Pittsburgh Outlaws Spring and Summer hockey team holding tryouts

The Pittsburgh Outlaws, a competitive spring and summer hockey team will be holding tryouts starting March 14th. The Outlaws season runs from Mid-March until Mid-July and consists of practices, scrimmages, tournaments, off-ice training, and much more. The Outlaws are currently entering their second year of existence and are looking to expand to more teams.

Tryouts for the Mites and Squirts teams are March 14th and 17th. Tryouts for the Peewees and Bantams teams are March 15th and 16th. All tryouts are at The Ice Connection of Pittsburgh in Gibsonia and the cost for the 2 night tryout is $40.

The Outlaws will play anywhere between 10 and 20 games throughout the spring and summer. All teams will also compete in a least one and possibly as many as three tournaments. Players can expect to be on the ice between one and three times a week.

The Outlaws also try to teach and develop players by include off-ice activities into their program, including: video sessions, off-ice chalk talk, and off-ice strength and conditioning. “Off-ice activities are just as important as on ice activities. Both on ice and off-ice activities will be used to teach the players a higher level of hockey,” says Outlaws director Brady Posey.

All strength and conditioning will be age appropriate. Mite and Squirt players will focus to gain control of their bodies and enhance balance and coordination, while peewee and bantam players will focus to gain more strength in their bodies as well as coordination.

The Outlaws are looking for young players that want to improve their hockey skills on a competitive team in the off-season. “Our main goal for this team is to teach and develop every kid that plays on the Outlaws. We want to improve both the skills and hockey knowledge of all of our players” said director Brad Posey.

The Pittsburgh Outlaws Moto is: “Come to Play Hard and Nothing Else”
