Derek Clancey is in his third season as director of professional scouting and sixth overall with the Penguins organization.
Clancey coordinates the team’s pro scouting efforts in North America and Europe, and works closely with director of player personnel Dan MacKinnon and pro scouts Andre Savard and Don Waddell.
Clancey, 43, was originally hired as a pro scout with the Penguins in the summer of 2007.
Prior to joining the Penguins, Clancey worked extensively in the coaching ranks. He has an overall head coaching record of 260-184-52 with the Dayton Bombers (2006-07), Reading Royals (2003-05) and Jackson Bandits (1999-2003) of the ECHL.
Clancey also served as an assistant coach of the Manchester Monarchs (2005-06) of the American Hockey League, the top minor-league affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings.
Clancey played eight seasons of professional hockey with Winston-Salem, Toledo, Erie, Columbus and Chesapeake of the ECHL before joining the coaching ranks.
