Derek Clancey is in his fourth season as director of professional scouting and seventh overall with the Penguins organization.
Clancey coordinates the team’s pro scouting efforts in North America and Europe, and works closely with director of player personnel Dan MacKinnon.
Clancey, 44, was originally hired as a pro scout with the Penguins in the summer of 2007.
Prior to joining the Penguins, Clancey worked extensively in the coaching ranks. He has an overall head coaching record of 260-184-52 with the Jackson Bandits (1999-2003), Reading Royals (2003-05) and Dayton Bombers (2006-07) of the ECHL.
Clancey also served as an assistant coach of the Manchester Monarchs (2005-06) of the American Hockey League, the top minor-league affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings.
Clancey played eight seasons of professional hockey with Winston-Salem, Toledo, Erie, Columbus and Chesapeake of the ECHL before joining the coaching ranks.
