Penguins Report: 2014 NHL Awards

Tuesday, 06.24.2014 / 1:54 PM / Penguins Report
Pittsburgh Penguins

THEN AND NOW
Here's Crosby after winning his first career awards hat trick back in 2007, at just 19 years old...

And here he is tonight after winning his second career awards hat trick, 7 years later.

Here's to a third. Good night.

INFOGRAPHIC: CROSBY'S AWARDS
After tonight, Sidney Crosby is going to need to clear just a tad more space off an already crowded mantle.

Our captain was the star of the 2014 NHL Awards in Las Vegas, winning the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable player and the Ted Lindsay Award, which goes to the league’s most outstanding player as voted by all of the NHL players. Crosby was also officially presented with the Art Ross Trophy, which he won after leading the NHL with 104 points during the 2013-14 regular season. Oh, and he was voted a NHL First-Team All-Star.

This wasn't the first time he's won any of these awards, and hopefully it won't be the last. For a reminder of just how much Crosby has already accomplished at just 27 years old, here's an infograph we put together illustrating the incredible amount of hardware Sid has collected thus far...

MORE CROSBY PHOTOS
We already have a bunch of awesome behind-the-scenes photos from the Awards thanks to Sam, but now we have even more courtesy of Getty Images. We'll keep adding as they load them onto their website...

Love how the photographer framed Sid with the Penguins logo in full view behind him

How many legends can you fit into one photo?

It seems you can fit at least two...(here's Sid with Ted Lindsay himself!)

Nope, we were wrong. It's three. Six-time Stanley Cup champion Mark Messier decided to join in on the fun as well.

Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon - just a couple of crazy kids from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Here's Crosby with his second career hat trick of awards...

But first...

...Let me take a selfie.

CROSBY WINS HART
HAT TRICK!!! Crosby takes home his second career Hart Trophy as NHL MVP. He received 128 of 137 first-place votes in the balloting for this award - just unreal. He completes the trifecta with the Hart, Ted Lindsay and Art Ross.

"To the Penguins organization, my teammates, our fans, thank you for all your support..."

CROSBY WINS TED LINDSAY
The first award of the night is the Ted Lindsay Award - which goes to the most outstanding player as voted by all the NHL's players. Nominees: Crosby; Ryan Getzlaf; Claude Giroux.

And the winner, of course, is Crosby...
