Pens Tournament Updates: Malkin, Jarry in Championships
Penguins center Evgeni Malkin and goaltending prospect Tristan Jarry both advanced to the championship games of their respective tournaments.

Penguins center Evgeni Malkin and goaltending prospect Tristan Jarry both advanced to the championship games of their respective tournaments.

Malkin will be looking to help Russia reclaim gold at the 2014 IIHF World Championship, being held in Minsk, Belarus. In Malkin's last World Championship appearance two years ago, he set a new Team Russia record for tournament scoring with 19 points (11G-8A) while being named the tournament’s Top Forward and MVP as he led his country to the title.

Russia defeated defending champion Sweden, 3-1, in the semifinals on Saturday.

Jarry and the Edmonton Oil Kings defeated the Val D'or Foreurs, 4-3, in a triple-overtime thriller on Friday night - which now stands as the longest game played in Memorial Cup history. It lasted 102 minutes, 42 seconds.

Jarry, selected by the Penguins in the second round (44th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft, made 46 saves to lead Edmonton to its first Memorial Cup championship game appearance since 1966. The Oil Kings will play the Guelph Storm on Sunday at 4 p.m. EST.
