SKATE INFO
Defenseman Brooks Orpik, who did not play in Game 5, was the only absent player at the Pens morning skate.

The Penguins used the following workflow...

Kunitz-Crosby-Stempniak
Jokinen-Malkin-Neal
Bennett-Sutter-Vitale
Glass-Goc-Adams
Conner-Pyatt-Megna

The defense skated in end-to-end rushes in pairs of three.

(For those commenting below on "pairs of three," the team used two groups (pairs) of three defensemen skating in each. Hope that clarifies).

PP1: Martin, Niskanen up top. Crosby, Malkin, Kunitz down low.
PP2: Maatta, Letang up top. Neal, Jokinen, Sutter down low.

START THE DAY
Good morning hockey fans! Tonight the Pens have a chance to eliminate the Columbus Blue Jackets in Game 6 and advance into the second round of play. Here are some game notes to get you ready for the action...
  • Tonight the Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets play Game 6 (TV: ROOT SPORTS; Radio: 105.9 the X) at Nationwide Arena.
  • The Penguins have an opportunity to eliminate the Blue Jackets tonight. Pittsburgh went 2-0 last spring when it had a chance to eliminate its opponent.
  • During the Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin era the Penguins are 10-7 when they have a chance to close out a series (excludes the 2011 series with Tampa Bay when both were injured).
  • During that same period (and excluding the Tampa Bay series) the Penguins are 8-3 in road games when they have a chance to clinch.
  • The Penguins are 14-14 all-time in Game 6, including a 7-9 mark on the road.
