Two Penguins forward prospects who attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha – junior Josh Archibald and freshman Jake Guentzel – were honored with awards by the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

Archibald, who finished the regular season ranked second in the NCAA with 29 goals in 34 games, was selected to the NCHC First-Team All-Conference Team. He scored 21 of his goals in 24 NCHC contests.

Guentzel was voted to the NCHC All-Rookie Team after pacing all freshmen with 27 points and 21 assists in NCHC action. During conference play, his 27 points ranked second among all players regardless of class, trailing only Archibald, who had 32 points against NCHC foes.

Archibald, who was drafted by the Penguins in the sixth round (174th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, finished the regular season tied for eighth in the NCAA with 43 points (29G-14A) in 34 contests. He was the NCHC player of the month for February.

Guentzel, whom the Penguins chose in the third round (77th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, was nearly a point-per-game performer throughout the course of his first season, totaling 32 points (7G-25A) in 34 total games. Guentzel ended the year riding a four-game point streak (3G-4A-7PTS).

Nebraska-Omaha begins postseason play with a best-of-three series against Denver in the NCHC playoffs March 13-15.
