Penguins Acquire Forward Marcel Goc from Florida in Exchange for a Pair of Draft Picks
The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward Marcel Goc from the Florida Panthers for a 2014 fifth-round draft pick and a 2015 third-round draft pick.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward Marcel Goc from the Florida Panthers for a 2014 fifth-round draft pick and a 2015 third-round draft pick, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Goc, 30, has posted 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 62 games this season for Florida. His 11 goals placed fourth on the team and leave him one shy of equaling his career high of 12 established in 2009-10 with Nashville.

The 6-foot-1, 197-pound Goc ranked first among Florida forwards with 103 hits and 41 blocked shots this season. Goc has won 52.8% of his draws this season, with his 576 faceoff wins ranking 13th in the NHL.

Goc, who hails from Calw, Germany, has skated in 550 career NHL regular-season contests with the San Jose Sharks, Nashville Predators and Panthers, totaling 72 goals, 105 assists and 177 points. He has also played in 50 postseason contests, registering 14 points (5G-9A).

Goc was originally drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the first round (20th overall) of the 2001 NHL Draft.
