START THE DAY
Good afternoon hockey fans! The Pens will finish off the first-ever Mothers' Trip with an 8 p.m. EST contest against the Phoenix Coyotes. Here are some game notes to get you started...
  • The Penguins complete a two-game road trip against the Phoenix Coyotes (TV: ROOT SPORTS; Radio: 105.9 the X) at Jobing.com Arena.
  • With a win tonight the Penguins will finish the team’s first-ever ‘Mothers’ Trip’ with a perfect 2-0 record. The Penguins went 2-0 on three previous occasions when they held ‘Dads’ Trips’ in the past (2006-07; ’09-10; ’10-11)
  • Pittsburgh is 9-2-1 in its last 12 games.
  • Pittsburgh has won three straight games against the Phoenix Coyotes.
  • The Penguins have won five of the seven games between the two teams since the 2006-07 campaign.
  • This is the Penguins’ first visit to Phoenix since Nov. 6, 2010 when Pittsburgh stormed back from deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 to register a 4-3 shootout win. Chris Kunitz scored the game-tying goal to force overtime and Mark Letestu tallied the game-deciding shootout marker. Sidney Crosby had a goal and an assist and Evgeni Malkin scored the other Pittsburgh goal.
