LINEUP UPDATE
Head coach Dan Bylsma coyly said the Pens have 12 healthy forwards and eight healthy defensemen. Meaning that the four "injured" players are now available to play. That being said, he noted that the lineup will be a game-time decision.
  • Marc-Andre Fleury will be starting in net.
  • Pascal Dupuis will have ACL surgery on Feb. 12.

START THE DAY
Good morning Pens fans, and happy Martin Luther King Day! The team's stretch of one game in eight days has come to an end. The Pens had a lot of time to rest, relax and heal any what they like to call bumps and bruises, with three full days off the ice – including back-to-back days on Thursday and Friday, which the guys made the most of. Marc-Andre Fleury took his daughter Estelle to get her ears pierced, while Matt Niskanen caught up on his celebrity gossip.

Now it's time to get back to work. The Pens resume a normal schedule (and begin their sprint toward the Olympic break, which begins Feb. 9) tonight when they host the Florida Panthers at CONSOL Energy Center. The news to watch for today will be the possible returns of defenseman Paul Martin and forwards James Neal, Jayson Megna and Chuck Kobasew. All of these players had two full days of practice with the team this weekend in addition to a number of productive individual sessions over the last few days, so we'll see if that's enough for them to rejoin the lineup.

Here are a few game notes to get you ready for tonight's matchup with the Panthers...
  • The Penguins resume their three-game homestand against the Florida Panthers (TV: ROOT SPORTS; Radio: 105.9 the X) at CONSOL Energy Center.
  • The Penguins enter tonight’s game having won a franchise record 13 straight home games dating back to Nov. 15.
  • Pittsburgh enters tonight’s game having not lost in regulation in its last six games (5-0-1).
  • The Penguins are the only NHL team that has yet to lose a regulation game in 2014.
  • A win tonight by the Penguins would allow them to finish with a winning record against the Panthers for the fifth straight year.
  • The Penguins are 14-2-1 in their last 17 games.
  • Pittsburgh is 10-3 in its last 13 games against the Florida Panthers.
  • The Penguins have won eight straight games against the Panthers here in Pittsburgh. Florida’s last win here was a 6-1 victory on Jan. 3, 2009 at Mellon Arena.
  • The Penguins are 11-1 against the Panthers in the last 12 games played here in Pittsburgh.
