The Pittsburgh Penguins are happy to announce Andrew Power from Penn Trafford, Christian Siak from Bethel Park, Jimmy Perkins from Quaker Valley and Kyle Cunningham from Pine Richland as the four Highmark PIHL Players of the Month for December.

The Penguins organization and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield recognize high school players of the month four times each season.

Senior defenseman Power has played against opposing teams’ top offensive lines and helped lead Penn Trafford to a 2-1 record in their three games in December.

“It’s a real honor to be nominated for this award,” Power said. “I just wanted to thank my teammates and my coaches. Without them this wouldn’t have all been possible.”

Senior forward Siak tallied 11 goals in just five games for Bethel Park, including a hat trick against Canon MacMicllan and four goals against Shaler. He tallied at least one goal in the remaining three games. He helped Bethel Park to be undefeated throughout the month of December.

“It’s pretty exciting to come down here and go through this whole experience,” Siak said. “I just wanted to thank all my teammates for helping me get here and all my coaches and my family. It’s an honor.”

Senior forward Jimmy Perkins had 12 points in four games for Quaker Valley, including a four goal game against Thomas Jefferson. He tallied at least one point per game in the month of December and has 22 goals on the season.

“It’s a great honor and it’s great to represent your school and organization,” Perkins said. “I’m thankful that the Penguins gave us this opportunity.”

Senior defenseman Cunningham scored one goal a game in the month of December for Pine Richland. Cunningham has been named to the PIHL All-Star for the past three years and logs 30 to 35 minutes a game.

“I would like to thank all my coaches and teammates for helping me get here,” Cunnigham said.
