Can we please talk about the hockey hug going on in this photo between Flower and Duper?

The team recalled Brian Gibbons after they placed Jayson Megna on IR. Gibbons leads WBS with 27 points in 23 GP this season.

Joe Vitale is convinced somebody slipped gunpowder into Robert Bortuzzo's pregame meal before they played the Leafs

Bortuzzo and Brian Dumoulin are similarly built, both standing 6-4 with long wingspans

Whatever Dupuis is doing, he's making Gibbons laugh. Which apparently isn't a very easy task...

START THE DAY
Good morning hockey fans! Tonight the Pens are in the city that never sleeps to battle the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Here are some game notes to get you ready for the action…

  • The Penguins visit the New York Rangers (TV: NBC Sports Network; Radio: 105.9 the X) at Madison Square Garden.
  • Pittsburgh enters tonight having won four straight games and nine of its last 10 contests. A win tonight would equal Pittsburgh’s season-long winning streak of five games.
  • Since Nov. 18 the Penguins have recorded the most wins (12) and points (25) among all NHL teams. Their record is 12-2-1 during that span.
  • The Penguins have won four of their last five road games.
  • The Penguins are 8-2 in their last 10 games against the Rangers.
  • While the Penguins have lost their last two visits to MSG, they won four straight and nine of 11 at MSG before this stretch.
  • Tonight begins Pittsburgh’s eighth set of back-to-back games. Thus far they have a cumulative record of 9-5 –including 5-2 the first night and 4-3 the second game. Pittsburgh has won its last five front halves of back-to-backs.
  • The Penguins have swept each of their last two back-to-backs Nov. 29-30 (3-0 at TBL; 5-1 at FLA) and Dec. 13-14 (3-2 vs. NJD; 4-1 at DET).

Since this is the last time the Pens will play in NYC this year (barring a postseason matchup) we’ll open the day with THE true New York classic.
