Penguins Sign Forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond to a two-year contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Letourneau-Leblond’s (leh-TOOR-noh leh-BLAWN) contract is a two-way deal that runs through the 2014-15 season and has an average annual value of $550,000 at the NHL level.

Letourneau-Leblond, 28, has spent the first six weeks of the season playing with WBS on an AHL contract, collecting one assist and 42 penalty minutes in 11 games. He appeared in one NHL preseason game with the Penguins during training camp.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound forward has played parts of four NHL seasons with the New Jersey Devils and Calgary Flames, notching three assists and 101 penalty minutes in 40 regular-season games. Letourneau-Leblond has also played in five career postseason contests.

A native of Levis, Quebec, Letourneau-Leblond has played eight seasons in the AHL with the Albany River Rats, Lowell/Albany Devils, Abbotsford Heat, Norfolk Admirals and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He has 47 points (21G-26A) and 1,103 penalty minutes in 285 AHL regular-season games.

Originally drafted by New Jersey in the seventh round (216th overall) of the 2004 NHL Draft, Letourneau-Leblond skated two seasons of junior hockey with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) between 2003-05.
