For the second consecutive week, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was honored as one of the NHL’s ‘Three Stars.’

Crosby was named NHL ‘Second Star’ for the week ending Oct. 20 after leading the league during the seven-day span in both assists (6) and points (8).

Crosby, who has the Penguins off to a 7-1 start that is the team’s best since 2009-10, helped Pittsburgh earn a 3-2 win against the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 15 by tallying a season-best three assists.

Two nights later, Crosby, who leads the NHL with 17 points (7G-10A), helped the Penguins earn a hard-fought 4-1 victory against their rival Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center by contributing a goal and an assist in the third period.

Crosby concluded his week by registering three points (1G-2A) in the Penguins’ 4-3 shootout win against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday afternoon. In doing so, Crosby increased his scoring streak against Canadian-based teams to 16 straight games.

Crosby enters Monday night’s showdown against Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche having collected at least one point in all eight games this season, as well as assists in six straight games.

Last week, Crosby was named the NHL’s ‘Third Star,’ and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was ‘Third Star’ of opening week.
