USA Hockey announced the list of 40 prospects who will skate in the CCM Top Prospects Game at CONSOL Energy Center on Sept. 26 on Monday morning at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Virginia.

The second annual Top Prospects Game features 40 of the best American players eligible for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Headlining the roster are forward Blake Clarke, who will skate for the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 2013-14, Jack Glover, a defenseman on the United States National Team Development Program Under-18 squad and Jordan Schmaltz, who plays center for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL).

All three players are rated as potential first-round picks for the 2014 NHL Draft by Red Line Report, an independent scouting service, on its preliminary ranking list.

Of the 40 players invited to participate, 17 were ranked among the top 100 players eligible for the 2014 NHL Draft by Red Line Report.

Other top-50 prospects on that list include forward Shane Eiserman (No. 32) of the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL); center Jared Fiegl (No. 36) of the United States Under-18 Team; and defenseman Anthony DeAngelo of the Sarnia Sting of the OHL.

Last year’s inaugural Top Prospects Game was played in Buffalo, with Team McClanahan prevailing, 5-2, over Team Housley.

Seth Jones, who was drafted by the Nashville Predators with the sixth-overall selection in the 2013 NHL Draft, was among 38 players who participated. Forward Ryan Fitzgerald, the son of Penguins assistant to the general manager Tom Fitzgerald and a 2013 fourth-round draft pick by the Boston Bruins, was named the game’s MVP after collecting three assists.

Earlier it was announced that a pair of Penguins alumni – NHL Hall of Famer Joe Mullen and 1980 ‘Miracle on Ice’ Olympic hero Mark Johnson – would serve as the head coaches for the game.

A back-to-back Stanley Cup champion with the Penguins in 1991 and ’92, Mullen is currently an assistant coach for the Philadelphia Flyers. Johnson, the son of the legendary ‘Badger’ Bob Johnson, is a four-time NCAA national champion as head coach of the women’s hockey team at his alma mater the University of Wisconsin.
