Penguins Re-Sign Forward Zach Sill

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Zach Sill to a one-year contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Sill’s contract is a two-way deal worth $550,000 at the NHL level.

Sill, 25, completed his fourth season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2012-13, tallying nine points on four goals and five assists in 57 regular-season games, and four points on two goals and two assists in 15 postseason games.

The 6-foot, 202-pound forward originally joined the organization as an undrafted free agent. Sill has registered 67 points (30G-37A) in 259 career AHL games with the Penguins, tallying an additional 11 points (6G-5A) in 43 career Calder Cup playoff games. Sill’s best season came in 2010-11 when he recorded career highs in games played (80), goals (11), assists (19), points (30) and rating (plus-16).

A Truro, Nova Scotia native, Sill played two seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Moncton Wildcats from 2007-09. Sill appeared in 124 career regular season games during his two-year stint with the Wildcats, totaling 50 points on 27 goals and 23 assists. He added five points on four goals and one assist in 10 postseason games.
