Penguins Report: Closing Time 2013

THE END
We are going to end the final Pens Report the same way that we start it – with a song. To finish off the season here is DeVotchKa with “How It Ends.”

I hope everyone enjoys the summer. And remember – Let’s Go Pens!

That's a wrap.

THANK YOU
Before we sign off for the year, there are a lot of people I'd like to thank for helping make the Pens' website the best in the NHL.

To start with, thank you to the team - players and coaches. They are an incredible group of men. They're always willing and patient when dealing with us media types (even after hard losses and bad games). They have a lot of character in that locker room and it shows in their class and grace. They are the reason we are here in the first place, and their cooperation is much appreciated.

And to our staff (the Dream Team) for the tireless hours they put into their work (from pulling all-nighters to working on holidays). A big thank you to the writers (Michelle Crechiolo, Wes Crosby, James Santelli, Brooks Bratten), PensTV video shooters/producers (Mark Cottington, Meghan McManimon, Mike Davenport, James Archer, Leo McCafferty, Jon Otte), social media (Melissa Marchionna), PensTV talent (Katie O'Malley, Beth Swanson) and most importantly, the PR staff (Jen Bullano, Jason Seidling).

But as always, the biggest thank you goes out to the readers. You guys are the reason we are here. It's truly a blessing to cover the Pittsburgh Penguins and it is all because of you. So I hope you've enjoyed the stories, videos, blogs, photos and blurbs. And thank you for dealing with my poor musical taste! We are all grateful for your loyalty to the Pens (and to our humble website). You best ))))))))

START ME UP
The 2012-13 season officially is over.

Today the players gathered for the final time at CONSOL Energy Center for locker clean out, or "Get Away Day." The players had physicals and exit meetings with the coaches, as well as packing up their equipment and personal belongings to take home.

It's also the final time this particular group will be together. There are a lot of players on the roster who will be free agents this summer (Pascal Dupuis, Jarome Iginla, Brenden Morrow, Matt Cooke, Tyler Kennedy, Douglas Murray, etc.). So the guys said their goodbyes to their teammates one last time.

---

This will also be the final Pens Report of the season. So we start off our finale the way we always do, with Semisonic's "Closing Time."
