SOUNDS HEARD AROUND THE ROOM
CROSBY TALKS JAW PROTECTOR
We spoke to Sid after practice about removing the jaw protector that was attached to his helmet.
When Penguins captain Sidney Crosby took the ice for the team’s Sunday afternoon practice at CONSOL Energy Center something was missing.
Crosby, 25, hit the ice without the extra jaw protector that has been attached to his helmet since he returned from a broken jaw injury May 3. Crosby has been cleared to play without the jaw protector and will not wear it when the Penguins play the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference finals.
“They’re comfortable with it coming off, being hit and things like that,” Crosby said of the team’s doctors. “That’s what it came down to."
Full story here...and a joke from coach Bylsma about his captain being without the attachment...
The guys wore their color-coded jerseys today...makes it so much easier to figure out the lines when they do that.
Crosby and Dupuis were missing their linemate Kunitz
Rookie Beau Bennett filled in for Kuni alongside Sid and Duper
...And Iginla were also missing their linemate, James Neal. Glass slotted in with them today.
Oh man. That is a fierce shot of Brenden Morrow.
The puck springs off Kris Letang's stick
Dupuis sure can grow a beard with the best of them

James Neal and Chris Kunitz were the only two players missing from the Penguins at practice.
With those two absent, Beau Bennett and Tanner Glass filled in at their usual spots. Here's how the lines looked...
Also, captain Sidney Crosby was sans jaw protector. It's the first time he's practiced without the head gear since prior to breaking his jaw on March 30.

After having a day off on Saturday, the Pens were back on the ice Sunday afternoon for practice. Stay here for the latest reaction from the team regarding their upcoming series with Boston.
Since Pittsburgh has advanced to another round, we've got to stick with tradition and play Jay-Z's "On to the Next One" to open the Pens Report. It's on to the conference finals for the Pens.
