Penguins Fans Encouraged to \u201CKeep It Growing\u201D

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ fifth annual “Beard-A-Thon” campaign continues during the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and fans are encouraged to “keep it growing” throughout the playoffs. To date, Penguins Beard-A-Thon participants have raised over $50,000 for the Mario Lemieux Foundation. Penguins Beard-A-Thon is proudly presented by SUPERCUTS.

It’s not too late to join the cause! Fans who are growing playoff beards but have not signed up for the program can enroll online at www.beardathon.com/penguins. All participants are encouraged to upload and update their profile photos as the playoffs progress and ask family, friends and co-workers to pledge their beards in an effort to support the team and the fundraiser.

Fans who are unwilling or unable to grow playoffs beards are also encouraged to participate by making a tax deductible donation to support friends, family members or players who are growing beards. Pascal Dupuis, Deryk Engelland and Brandon Sutter are proud to support the cause with official profiles as well team owner Mario Lemieux.

The Penguins will award prizes to the three beard growers who raise the most money for the charity. This year’s prizes include a team signed authentic helmet, an autographed Mario Lemieux jersey and free SUPERCUTS haircuts for a year.

Penguins’ fans have raised over $300,000 for the Mario Lemieux Foundation since the program’s inception in 2009.

For more information or to enroll, please visit www.beardathon.com/penguins.

The Mario Lemieux Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and patient care, as well as Austin's Playroom Project, an initiative that creates playrooms for children and families in medical facilities. Additional information about the Mario Lemieux Foundation is available at www.mariolemieux.org.
