Penguins to Face New York Islanders in First Round of 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs

With the Ottawa Senators beating the Boston Bruins in regulation, 4-2, on Sunday night, the New York Islanders are locked in as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and they will play the top-seeded Penguins in the first round of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Penguins won the season series with the Islanders, 4-1 – the sixth straight season Pittsburgh has finished with a winning record against their Atlantic Division opponent. The Islanders won the first game on Jan. 29 (4-1), but the Penguins took the following four by a combined score of 16-6 – the last coming on March 30, a 2-0 win at CONSOL Energy Center.

Matt Moulson is New York's leading scorer vs. Pittsburgh this season with four points (1G-3A) in five games. Several Penguins have posted impressive numbers against the Islanders this year: Sidney Crosby has nine assists in four complete games against New York, while Chris Kunitz has eight points (4G-4A) in five games, Pascal Dupuis has six points (5G-1A) in five games and James Neal has six points (3G-3A) in five games.
