Penguins Support Military Heroes

Pittsburgh Penguins players will wear special camouflage jerseys during the pre-game warmup Sunday night as part of the team’s “Support Our Heroes” Military Appreciation Night. The Pens take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7:30 p.m. at CONSOL Energy Center.

Each Penguins player will autograph his camouflage jersey, and they will be available for auction at www.pittsburghpenguins.com from Monday, Feb. 25 through Thursday, March 14. The auction begins Monday at 12 noon.

Proceeds will benefit military veterans through the Mario Lemieux Foundation’s Austin’s Military Playroom Project, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, the Mighty Penguins Veterans Sled Hockey Program and Operation Troop Appreciation.

Camo jerseys and military-themed gear will be available for sale at PensGear stores.

The Penguins also will host a special group of local military veterans at the morning skate on Sunday.

In addition, the team is joining forces with partners ATI, Dunkin’ Donuts and First Niagara to raise money for “Support Our Heroes” with a unique fundraising program.

All fans attending Sunday’s game will receive an ATI Zamboni bank cutout. These Zamboni banks also will be distributed at local First Niagara branches and Dunkin’ Donuts locations in western Pennsylvania while supplies last.

Fans are encouraged to fill their ATI Zamboni banks with money and stop by a local First Niagara Branch or CONSOL Energy Center to make their donation. Individual donations also may be made on-site. Donations will be collected through March 10.

ATI and First Niagara will match donations up to $25,000.
