Penguins Report: Valentine\'s Day (2013)

BENNETT EARNS OPPORTUNITY
Penguins forward Beau Bennett visited Pittsburgh Wednesday to meet with team doctors for an evaluation of a recently recovered from injury. On Thursday morning, head coach Dan Bylsma told him to unpack his bags and stay a while.

The Penguins officially recalled Bennett from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League and he joined the team for practice this afternoon.

“I had the opportunity this morning to tell Beau he was getting called up. It was a good moment,” Bylsma said. “Beau was a little bit caught by surprise. His going out for practice today, he didn’t find that out until 9:30 a.m. It was a good conversation. Beau was pretty excited about that.”

Full story on Bennett and what's ahead for the young winger here.

PENS TALK VALENTINE'S DAY
The Penguins will be spending this Valentine’s Day with each other in freezing cold Winnipeg. In honor of the Hallmark holiday, we asked some of the guys some lighthearted questions about their plans tonight and whether they’re going to do anything special for Valentine's Day birthday boy Brandon Sutter, who turns 24 today.

The best quote about Valentine’s Day came from Joe Vitale…

WEAR RED FOR RYAN DAY
Today the Pittsburgh Penguins wore red for Ryan Heitzenrater, who plays youth hockey for the Arctic Foxes with coach Bylsma’s son Bryan. The Penguins players and coaches wanted to join Ryan’s teammates and classmates in showing their support, and wanted Ryan to know they are thinking about him while he is sick.

PRACTICE INFO
Beau Bennett, recalled this morning, was on the ice for practice at Southpointe. The only Pens players missing were Evgeni Malkin and Brandon Sutter.

The Pens shuffled the lines with the two centers missing. Jeffrey slid into Malkin's spot while Kennedy moved from wing to center on the third line.

MALKIN SHAKE
You've heard of the Harlem Shake, right? But have you heard of the Malkin Shake? Geno has good moves with his head, but his body is a little stiff (jokes).

PENS RECALL BENNETT
Bennett, 21, will be looking to make his NHL debut on Friday night at Winnipeg. The rookie forward placed second on WBS with 18 assists and fourth with 25 points in 35 games this season. Last month, he was chosen to represent the Penguins at the AHL All-Star Classic, although he didn’t play in the game due to injury.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward attended NHL training camp with the Penguins in January, but was returned to WBS just prior to the start of the season.

Since it is Valentine's Day, I'm going to open the day with the most beautiful love song of all time, The Beatles "Something." George Harrison at his absolute best. Feel free to chime in below with your pick of the best love song of all time.

Anyways, enjoy.

Here's an added bonus, Jim Sturgess' version of "Something" from the movie Across the Universe.
