Goal Change: Kunitz Scores 4

The National Hockey League announced this morning that the Pittsburgh Penguins opening goal against the Washington Capitals on Feb. 3 has now been credited to Chris Kunitz, with assists to Paul Martin and Sidney Crosby.

As a result of the scoring change, Kunitz finished Sunday’s game with four goals – the first time he’s done so in his career. Kunitz became the first Penguin to score four goals in a game since Jaromir Jagr did so against the New York Rangers on October 14, 2000 at Mellon Arena.

The four-goal game by Kunitz was the first by a Penguin on the road since Mario Lemieux had four goals against the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 26, 1997.
