FLEURY AND VOKOUN
Heading into a shortened season, the Penguins are fortunate to have one of the NHL’s best goalie tandems in Marc-Andre Fleury and Tomas Vokoun. The two netminders will likely share the workload and keep each other fresh during the hectic, compressed schedule.
“We have a lot of games in a short period of time, so I’m sure we’ll be working good (together) sharing a bit of ice time,” Fleury said. “We’ll see how it goes along the way.”Full story here.
(Can we start a nickname for these guys in the Brangelina/Bennifer fashion? Flokoun?).
USA! USA! HOCKEY
USA Hockey's Under-18 team was at CONSOL Energy Center Thursday for practice. Head coach Don Granato, brother of Penguins assistant coach Tony Granato, stopped in Pittsburgh for a practice en route to State College, where they'll play Penn State's Division I hockey team.

PENS WELCOME NEW TRAINERS
The Penguins hired two new assistant athletic trainers, Curtis Bell and Patrick Steidle.
Bell has a lot of hockey experience. He worked in the National Hockey League with Tampa Bay (98-99), New Jersey (00-04) and Florida (04-08). He's also worked in minor league hockey with Flint (winning the Colonial Cup championship) and Albany. Pretty impressive resume.
Steidle has been a fixture in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He's been with the team for 14 years, since the third game of its inaugural season in 1999. He's also worked for US Olympic teams in a variety of sports.
Welcome to the team guys!

QUOTE(S) OF THE DAY...
PensTV program note: every week during the regular season, PensTV will be interviewing players with questions submitted by fans via twitter. @penguins asked fans to submit questions for Brandon Sutter. Follow @penguins for your chance to ask the players questions, and check back to PittsburghPenguins.com to see if your question was asked and to hear Brandon's answers.
Update: We asked fans to submit questions for Tanner Glass. My personal favorite so far comes from Ray Shero's evil counterpart...

There are 17 players at practice for Thursday’s informal skate. Forwards Jeffrey, Dupuis, Glass, Crosby, Kunitz, Sutter, Kennedy, Cooke, Neal and Adams, defensemen Niskanen, Engelland, Martin, Lovejoy and Orpik and goaltenders Fleury and Vokoun.
Vitale, who has been a regular at the informal skates, was absent. No word yet on where he was, although these are volunteer skates so I wouldn't read much into it.
STARTING THE DAY
Good morning Pens fans! Another day, another informal practice. The team is back to work at CONSOL Energy Center at 10 a.m. There are no new arrivals expected to be here, but it will still be a full batch of guys on the ice.
The NHL Board of Governors approved the proposed collective bargaining agreement Wednesday in New York. Now the players have to ratify the deal over the next few days to make the CBA official. At that point the labor agreement will be over and all that will matter is dropping the puck.
