Anton Zlobin Named Quebec Major Junior Hockey League \'First Star\' of the Week

Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Anton Zlobin of the Val-d’ Or Foreurs was named Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) ‘First Star’ for the week ending Dec. 31 after tallying four goals and nine points in a pair of games against Rouyn-Noranda over the weekend.

Zlobin, the Penguins sixth-round (173rd overall) pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, was especially effective on Sunday, when he picked up the fourth hat trick of his junior career and added three assists for six points – with the latter two totals being single-game career highs. Zlobin had a goal and two assists for three points on Saturday.

Zlobin, 19, has been one of the top players in the QMJHL all season. He currently ranks second on Val-d’ Or and 13th in the league with 49 points (19G-30A) in 32 games. Zlobin has recorded at least one point in 23 of his last 26 games, including a season-high 15-game point streak between Oct. 7-Nov. 14.

The 5-foot-11, 189-pound Zlobin is in his first season with the Foreurs following an offseason trade from the Shawinigan Cataractes – whom he helped win the 2012 Memorial Cup championship by scoring both of his team’s goals in the decisive victory over the London Knights.
