Penguins Sign Forward Dominik Uher

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Dominik Uher, to a three-year entry-level contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Uher was drafted by the Penguins in the fifth round (144 overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. The deal begins with the 2012-13 season and runs through the 2014-15 campaign.

Uher, 19, finished his third season with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League (WHL), tallying 68 points (33 goals, 35 assists) in 63 games, ranking fourth on the team in scoring. The Penguins prospect added five goals and nine points in 13 postseason contests for the Chiefs. After his 2012 campaign with Spokane, Uher joined the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a black ace during the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The 6-foot, 195-pound forward has produced 58 goals and 144 points in 181 regular-season games with Spokane from 2009-2012. He contributed 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 36 postseason contests with the Chiefs.

The native of Ostvava, Czech Republic represented his country at the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championships in December, notching three points (one goal, two assists) in six games during the tournament.
