Sidney Crosby Named NHL \u2018Third Star\u2019 of the Week
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was named NHL ‘Third Star’ for the week ending April 8 after tying for the league lead with six points (3G-3A) in three games – all Pittsburgh victories.

Crosby opened last week with two goals and an assist for a three-point game in a 5-3 win at Boston on April 3. That evening, Crosby tallied his 604th career point when he scored the game’s opening goal – moving him into fifth place on the franchise’s all-time point list, passing Jean Pronovost.

On April 5, Crosby earned an assist in Pittsburgh’s 5-2 defeat of the New York Rangers. Crosby finished the week by scoring a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win in the season-finale against Philadelphia on April 7.

Crosby ended the regular season on a five-game point streak (4G-8A).

Overall, Crosby finished the season with 37 points (8G-29A) in 22 games for an NHL-best 1.68 point-per-game average. Crosby had multiple points in 13 of his 22 games. In the 14 games of his most recent comeback – which began on April 15 – Crosby totaled six goals, 19 assists and 25 points.

This is Crosby’s second NHL weekly award this season. He was NHL ‘First Star’ for the week of his first comeback Nov. 21-27.
