Penguins Recall Defenseman Brian Strait from Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton
The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Brian Strait from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
 
Strait, 24, has appeared in seven games this season for Pittsburgh, recording one assist and posting an even rating while averaging 12:34 minutes. Strait picked up his first NHL point (assist) against the New York Islanders on March 27.
 
A native of Boston, Mass., Strait has appeared in 10 career NHL games with Pittsburgh over the previous two seasons, collecting one point with an even rating.
 
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Strait has played in 41 AHL games this season for WBS, posting 16 points (4G-12A) and a plus-7 rating. Strait, who was drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round (65th overall) of the 2006 NHL draft, has appeared in 194 career regular-season games for WBS, notching eight goals, 32 assists, 40 points and a plus-51 rating. He has five points (1G-4A) in 16 career postseason games.
