New Hockey Training Specialists Help Players with Quest to be Great

By Tyler Urda

As hockey becomes a faster and stronger game - gone are the days when a player could simply attend team practices once or twice a week and become an elite player. To be the best in today’s game takes hard work on and off the ice.

Quest Hockey is the newest hockey specific training company in Pittsburgh, owned and operated by Matt Schwartz and Brandon Rubeo - graduates of Peters Township High School and the Pennsylvania State University. After their playing days at PSU both Brandon and Matt went to work, but something wasn’t right. They both missed the game they devoted their life too. So they quit their day jobs and the rest is history.

Quest Hockey has a four step plan to help develop hockey players:

  • Identify Goal
  • Formulate Plan
  • Execute with Relentless Work Ethic
  • Achieve Results.

Schwartz and Rubeo have been teaching private hockey lessons for three years, but have operated under Quest Hockey for about three months. Quest Hockey offers individual and small group lessons, stick skills clinics, team practices, power skating, a 4 on 4 summer league and the Bryan Trottier Elite Scoring Camp.

Quest Hockey will travel to any rink in Pittsburgh for individual and team practices while the majority of their camps and clinics take place at Ice Castle in Castle Shannon. It is clear that Matt and Brandon’s passion for the game of hockey is unmatched and they transfer that passion to every player that they teach.

For more information about Quest Hockey visit their website & blog at www.questhockey.com, @questhockey or email them at info@questhockey.com.

Other area training options include:

  • Umberger Performance - offering dry land and strength training, including an ice skating treadmill. For more information visit http://umbergerperformance.com/.

  • National Elite Hockey that offers on-ice instruction at a variety of local rinks. Including defensive focus, power skating, goalie focus, and learn to play. For more information visit http://www.nelitehockey.com/.
