Penguins Recall Defenseman Brian Strait from Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton
The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Brian Strait from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
 
Strait, 24, has appeared in one NHL game with Pittsburgh this season – at Minnesota on Oct. 18. That night he suffered a wrist injury that sidelined him for 25 games through Dec. 17. In total, Strait has played in four career NHL games, including three games last season when he made his NHL debut.
 
Strait, 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, has played the majority of the season with WBS, where he has posted 12 points (3G-9A) and a plus-2 rating in 34 games. A native of Boston, Mass., Strait has played in 187 career AHL regular-season contests in two-plus seasons with WBS, collecting 36 points (7G-29A) and a plus-46 rating. He’s added five points (1G-4A) in 16 postseason games.
 
Strait, who was originally drafted by the Penguins in the third round (65th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft, played three collegiate seasons with Boston University of Hockey East, helping the Terriers capture the NCAA national title in 2009.
