Just in time for the holidays, Wendell August Forge has crafted two unique ornaments from pieces of the steel roof at the old Civic Arena – with all proceeds benefitting Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation youth charities.
Each ornament is available for $29. One features an image of the Civic Arena and the Pittsburgh skyline; the second features an image of the Civic Arena and the logo of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who were the building’s anchor tenant from 1967-2010.
Together, the ornaments enable fans to own a rare piece of the arena’s roof and honor 50 years of Pittsburgh memories while supporting the Penguins Foundation’s charitable efforts, which focus on the region’s youth.
“This was a tremendous opportunity for the Foundation to partner with Wendell August Forge to benefit a really great cause,” said Dave Soltesz, president of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. “The ornaments themselves focus on memories, and the Foundation focuses on kids. This will enable us to continue our efforts to promote physical well-being, encourage teamwork, stress the value of education and teach essential life skills to young people of our community.”
Ornaments are available exclusively at www.pittsburghpenguinsfoundation.org.
