I've got the full scoop on Neal's Hawaiian shirt for you guys. All I have to say about that is that I had more quotes than anyone should ever have about a Hawaiian shirt, but it made the end result that much better.
Click here to see what the guys, coach Dan and Neal's own father had to say about his fashion faux paus.
Full coachspeak with Dan Bylsma...
On the players who didn’t skate this morning:
Steve Sullivan was a maintenance day. Dustin Jeffrey has been evaluated by our doctors as put on a rehab schedule for the next 10-15 days. That includes some off-ice and some on-ice, so he was not on the ice today and is rehabbing.
On Sidney Crosby:
In terms of Sidney Crosby, just to clarify and minimize the speculation, we will continue to give updates the day before a game on whether he will be playing or not. He will not be playing in Saturday night’s game. It’s an effort to keep the speculation about a date (to a minimum). There is no timetable and no date at this point in time and we will continue to update you the day before the game and let you know about that."
On if Jeffrey won’t play for at least that 10-15 days:
I would say that’s a safe estimation about the rehab, yes.
On if he aggravated the original injury or still recovering from it:
(Still recovering). There’s no aggravation or setback, just strength and the wear and tear. Loading it up with games and that type of thing indicated there needs to be more strengthening and rehabbing done to the knee to withstand and to be at the level he needs to skate at and be at.
On the distraction of the Crosby speculation:
This time every day is about the only time it is. We approach every day and every game with the players that we have. Sid has been rehabbing with us, skating with us and he’s a part of our team. But we know right now he’s not going to be out there with us. That’s something we’ve been doing for 10 months now. So our guys know it’s the guys in the room that go out there every night. We love to see his rehab and we love to see him skating around out there and hope that he continues to progress and at some point in time, rejoin the team on the ice.
On what he needs to do to be cleared:
It is a doctor final approval to get cleared. Clearly on the ice, he’s a pretty good player right now.
On if they look at him every day:
It’s not an everyday thing, but yes. The doctor is not necessarily traveling with us, but is in contact on a regular schedule. That continues as he goes forward.
I was having wireless issues in the rink and then my laptop died on the bus (sigh), so I'm just now posting the practice pics. I know, I know, I'm full of excuses. But anyway, here they are...finally!!!

Bylsma also gave updates on Sullivan and Jeffrey.
Bylsma said today was a maintenance day for Sullivan, while Dustin Jeffrey has been evaluated by the doctors as being put on a rehab schedule for the next 10-15 days.
"That includes some off-ice and some on-ice, so he was not on the ice today and is rehabbing." Bylsma said.
When asked if Jeffrey wouldn't play during that period, Bylsma responded with, "I would say that’s a safe estimation about the rehab, yes."
He also said there's been no aggravation or setback; the knee just needs to be strengthened more,
"Loading it up with games and that type of thing indicated there needs to be more strengthening and rehabbing done to the knee to withstand and to be at the level he needs to skate at and be at."
Pens coach Bylsma announced that Sidney Crosby will not be playing Saturday against Florida. He reiterated that the team will let the media know a day in advance of the day he does play, which there is no timetable for.
"In terms of Sidney Crosby, just to clarify and minimize the speculation, we will continue to give updates the day before a game on whether he will be playing or not," Bylsma said.
"He will not be playing in Saturday night’s game. It’s an effort to keep the speculation about a date (to a minimum). There is no timetable and no date at this point in time and we will continue to update you the day before the game and let you know about that."
For those of you who watched the Pascal Dupuis mic'd up practice and paid close attention, you'll remember that the loser of the shootout had to wear a Hawaiian shirt for a week. Well, the shootout came down to coach Bylsma and Neal. And the loser was.....NEAL!!!!
Here's a pic of his awesomely bad Hawaiian shirt. But don't despair, a full story and video coming later today so check back in for more!!!!
The Pens are on the ice for the 11am practice at BankAtlantic Center. Forwards Dustin Jeffrey and Steve Sullivan are not on the ice. I'll get an update from coach Bylsma after practice on their status.
Hello everyone! Good morning from south Florida, where we're currently making the roughly 40-minute trek from our hotel to the BankAtlantic Center for the Penguins' 11 a.m. practice. They will be taking on the Panthers Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
We arrived here last night from Tampa, where the Penguins fell to the Bolts, 4-1, despite outshooting them 34-18. Much like he did in the 2011 playoffs, Lightning goalie Dwayne Roloson stood on his head for his team. It was a tough loss, but one that the Pens will have to shake off quickly in order to begin preparing for the Panthers.
They'll be pushing extra hard for a win in that game, not only for the two points – but to earn a split in the sixth annual Dads' Trip. If the team doesn't do well with their fathers n tow, Pens GM Ray Shero has always (jokingly) threatened that he'll invite the moms instead...so the guys will certainly be pressing hard tomorrow for the "W."
Contiuning the songs honoring the dads, I've got to go with Will Smith's 'Just the Two of Us.' Don't make fun. It's awesome!
