By Michelle Crechiolo

0:00: Horn sounds. Pens come away with a 3-1 victory over conference rival Montreal!!!

1:55: Gionta rips a slapper from the point that Darche re-directs past Flower, ending his shutout bid. Pens 3, Habs 1

3:05: Montreal back to full strength.

5:05: Pens are on the PP with David Desharnais in the box for roughing.

5:29:
Bylsma elects to use his timeout after his tired squad ices the puck.

6:25: Pens successfully kill their fourth penalty of the night!

8:25: Cammalleri sneaks behind the Pens' D and embarks on a breakaway -- but Michalek catches up to him in time and knocks him off the puck. But he's going to be penalized on the play. Habs to the PP.

10:31: Pens head to the PP as Andrei Kostitsyn is ordered to the box.

14:13: Engelland now has two assists on the night (as he was the one who actually shot the puck on Vitale's re-direct goal), which makes this his first career multi-point game.

14:40: Asham must have been a baseball player at some point in his life. A rebound bounces high into the air off Price and Asham whacks it out of midair into the net! However, the play is now under review as they work to determine if it's a hi-stick...AND IT STANDS!!! Pens 3, Habs 0

15:39: What does Sully have to do to score?! He lofts a backhand pass to Orpik, who unleashes a cannon at the net. The rebound goes right to Sully (who has a wide-open net with Price down), but it's a little too hot to handle!!

19:40: Habs back to full strength.

20:00: Puck drops to start the final frame. Game on!

THIRD PERIOD

SECOND PERIOD NOTES

- Pens dominating in the faceoff dot: they've won 61 percent of tonight's draws so far
- Jordan Staal is 10-for-15 (67 percent) on faceoffs
- Engelland leads with four hits

0:00: Horn sounds. Pens will start the third with 19 seconds left on their PP. They hold a 2-0 lead and a 24-21 advantage in shots.

1:41: Now it's the Pens turn to head to the PP as Gionta goes for boarding.

4:07: Pens back to full strength and they get a 3-on-2 as Michalek exits the box and joins the play with Cookie and Addsy! Cookie tries to stuff home the rebound attempt but Subban comes out of nowhere and blasts him. The crowd does not like that one bit.

6:07: Pens to their third kill of the period when Michalek gets a pair for hooking.

8:03: Darche picks up a giveaway just outside the Pens blue line and snaps a shot at Fleury, who deftly plucks it out of midair. Gionta is in front of the net on the play and falls on Flower, but there's no call.

11:14: Pens back to full strength.

12:18: Price tries to dangle Adams behind his net when he plays a puck. Bad move. Cookie picks it up and sends it right back over to Addsy, who nearly tips it in!

13:21: Aaand the Pens head right back to the PK when Lovejoy gets two for holding.

14:06: Great kill by the Pens. A very limited number of shots allowed and a few huge clears.

16:06: Habs get their first PP of the night when Paulie Martin is whistled for cross-checking.

16:23: Montreal's Max Pacioretty heads down the runway to the locker room. Not sure what happened there. They're also missing forward Scott Gomez, who suffered an upper-body injury in the first period and will not return.

17:20: Vitale tips Niskanen's shot for his first goal of the season! Pens 2, Habs 0

19:00: Sully is off to the races when he gets a perfect heads-up pass that sends him on a breakaway! But Price comes up with the save. Sully's been so close so far tonight!

20:00: Puck drops. Game on!

SECOND PERIOD

FIRST PERIOD NOTES

- Orpik has skated 5:48 minutes, is plus-1 and has 1 blocked shot
- Jeffrey has two shots through 3:26 of ice time
- Sullivan had a few really decent scoring chances that period. He's bound to get one soon
- Usual Pens killer Mike Cammalleri is minus-1 and has recorded 1 giveaway

0:00: That'll do it. Pens lead 1-0 and have a 16-8 advantage in shots.

1:38: Habs back to full strength.

3:20: The Big Mac Attack is over with no Pens goals scored. Sigh.

3:38: Price gets called for delay of game. So now not only are we finishing up the Big Mac Attack, but we're on the Power Ball Power Play!

5:20: TIME FOR THE BIG MAC ATTACK!!! If Pens score in the next two minutes everyone at the game gets a free Big Mac! Let's do this.

5:46: The WBS Penguins mascot, Tuxedo (or Tux as his friends call him), is in the building and just tried sliding down the banister but it didn't go too smoothly -- he's got to work on that. Iceburgh showed him how it's done right after.

11:05: James Neal nets his seventh of the season when he whips a low, hard shot to the cage that deflects off a Habs defender, hits the post, bounces off the back of Price's leg and re-directs into the net! As my colleague Sam Kasan just said, 'Just how he drew it up.' Assists to Sully and Park. Pens 1, Habs 0

11:48: Pens are outshooting the Habs 10-5. However, all five of Montreal's shots have been quality chances. Flower has had to be sharp early.

The Pens are currently playing a tribute on the video board to former Penguin Hal Gill, who is playing in his milestone 1,00th career NHL game!!! The crowd erupts into cheers and both teams tap their sticks on the board in his honor. Congrats to "Skllsy," who stands up and acknowledges the crowd.

13:27: Habs back to full strength.

14:27: Mathieu Darche gets a shorthanded breakaway starting at his team's blue line, but Fleury calmly makes the save!!! More chants of "Fleury! Fleury!"

15:37: Pens get an early PP as rookie Raphael Diaz is whistled for hooking! Their first unit: Martin and Sullivan on the points, Kunitz, Neal and Letestu up top.

17:03: Erik Cole swoops in for a point-blank shot right in front of the goal, but Fleury turns his blast aside -- inspiring chants of "Fleury! Fleury!"

18:30: Now Dustin Jeffrey is out for his first shift since March 24!

19:36: Orpik is on the ice for his first shift!!! He's out there with Lovejoy. I hope Carboard Orpik is somewhere watching.

20:00: Puck drops. It's a hockey night in Pittsburgh! Game on!

6:49 PM:
THIS JUST IN: Dustin Jeffrey returns to the lineup tonight!!! It will mark his first game action since suffering a knee injury March 24 vs. Philadelphia.

6:30 PM:
Welcome everyone! We're just a half hour from puck drop here at CONSOL Energy Center, where the Penguins are hosting conference rival Montreal at 7 p.m.

Lots of news coming from today's morning skates, the biggest being that Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik is making his season debut after missing the entire preseason and the team's first eight games. His return will be huge for the Penguins, as blueliners Kris Letang (suspension) and Brian Strait (hyper-extended elbow) are both out tonight.

We've also been alerted by the Penguins PR staff that in addition to Orpik, Dustin Jeffrey has officially been removed from the injured reserve list. It was also confirmed that Tyler Kennedy has been added to the IR with a concussion.

The full injury updates (including Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin) from head coach Dan Bylsma are in today's Penguins Report. You can check it here.

Or, you can watch a succinct wrapup of the day's events in the Game Day Report:
