Penguins will Host USA Hockey ADM Symposium
By Mark Boyle

The third annual USA Hockey ADM Symposium will be in Pittsburgh this year the weekend of September 23rd. This event is a result of USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM), a program created to inspire young athletes to pursue their love of hockey in a unique way.

Instead of spending the majority of practices waiting in line, the ADM’s method puts 60 players on the ice at once, splitting the players into groups, creating ‘skill stations’ and ensuring each player is constantly moving. Each player will spend time at each station working on a different skill set.

This exciting idea keeps the athletes energized and having fun for the duration of their practice.

Symposium registration takes place on Friday, September 23rd at the Doubletree Hotel in Pittsburgh and activities will continue all weekend, including on ice sessions at the CONSOL Energy Center.

On Saturday September 24th the event moves to the CONSOL Energy Center where coaches will get first-hand experience as they themselves will participate in an on ice practice at 6:30 p.m., embracing the ‘organized chaos’ created by the USA Hockey Coaching Staff.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will also be featuring their “Free Game for Kids” on Saturday September 24th when they host the Minnesota Wild at 3 p.m. The event gives kids a chance to see their heroes in action for free. Tickets for kids are being distributed through either the PAHL or PIHL – each registered association has received an allotment of tickets for players and chaperones.

For an additional opportunity to win tickets courtesy of ROOT Sports, parents can enter to win four tickets for the game. For more information and a chance to win click here.

On Sunday, Sept. 25, events will remain at the CONSOL Energy Center and will include presentations from USA Hockey Staff and two on ice sessions for Squirts and Pee Wees in the evening.
