The Pittsburgh Penguins encourage fans to tune in to the 2011 NHL Awards Show, which will be nationally televised this Wednesday, June 22 at 7 p.m. on VERSUS, as head coach Dan Bylsma has a chance to become the first head coach in franchise history to win the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's most outstanding coach.

Bylsma is a first-time candidate for the Jack Adams Award after leading the Penguins to the second-most number of points (106) and wins (49, tied) in franchise history despite his team suffering 350 man-games lost due to injury – including a combined 119 from the team's top-three offensive threats in Sidney Crosby (41 games missed), Evgeni Malkin (39) and Jordan Staal (39).

Other finalists for the award in addition to Bylsma are Nashville’s Barry Trotz and Vancouver’s Alain Vigneault.

Should Bylsma win he would become the second head coach from the Pittsburgh organization to earn top coaching honors this season as John Hynes, head coach of the Penguins’ top minor-league affiliate, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, captured the Louis A.R. Pieri Award as the AHL's outstanding coach in April.

This year's NHL Awards Show will once again be held at the Pearl Concert Theater located in the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. Comedian Jay Mohr will serve as the show's host for the second straight year.
