Penguins Recall Defensemen Potter, Wagner
The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defensemen Corey Potter and Steve Wagner from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Potter, 27, is in his first season with WBS after signing as a free agent last summer. In 62 games, he has posted 27 points (2G-25A) and a team-leading plus-24 rating.

Potter has played in eight career NHL games, scoring two points (1G-1A) with the New York Rangers. The Michigan State alum was drafted by New York with the 122nd overall pick (fourth round) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Potter played the majority of his career with Hartford of the AHL, posting 21 goals and 102 points in 246 career games with the Wolfpack.

Wagner, 27, is in his second campaign with WBS. He has totaled five goals and 26 points in 64 contests this season. Wagner’s five goals ties for the team lead among blueliners.

Wagner, who was acquired last season by Pittsburgh via trade, has appeared in 46 career NHL games, all with St. Louis, posting four goals and 12 points.

The Grand Rapids, Minnesota native played three collegiate seasons with Minnesota State – Mankato.
