3:44: Cooke with a great tip in front of the net. Crosby sent the shot from the midpoint and Cooke re-directed it into the side of the netting with a delayed call coming against Atlanta. That's Crosby's fourth point of the night. Penguins 6, Thrashers 2

4:34: Another great shorthanded chance with Adams and Talbot on a 2-on-1. Adams went to Talbot. Talbot tried to go back to Adams, but his pass was deflected.

7:00: Letestu just pulled off one of the best individual efforst you will ever see to get a goal. He forced Burmistrov to turn the puck over, battled the whole way for the rubber, gained body position and then embarrassed Pavelec in front. Penguins 5, Thrashers 2

8:04: Letang with a big blast from center ice that Pavelec struggled to control.

9:58: Pens kill the PK and Crosby sets Letang up for a one-timer. His shot is stopped and deflected into the seats.

10:49: Oduya with two big blasts that Fleury stopped.

12:41: Another penalty. The PK is getting lots of practice tonight.

15:17: Malkin blocks a pass in the neutral zone and has a partial breakaway. He's stopped by Pavelec.

15:29: The Pens kill both penalties and the crowd reacts favorably.

16:55: Two great plays from Talbot to break up a centering pass, and then to make the smart dump off the boards to clear the zone.

17:40: Letang batted the puck into the crowd and will get a penalty for delay of game. A 1:14 two-man advantage for Atlanta. This could be the turning point in the contest.

18:26: Pens penalty. Cooke goes for hooking. PK powers. Activate!

19:51: That didn't take long. Crosby with a great hustle and feed to Kunitz in front of the net. Kunitz finished the job with the tap-in. Penguins 4, Thrashers 2

14:31: Great shift from Geno! He nearly stuffs in a rebound and then just misses from a tough angle. Then he gets a free shot from the slot, but is denied. He was flying on that shift.

SECOND PERIOD

FIRST PERIOD NOTES
- Crosby: 2 goals, 4 shots. He's scored last 5 Pens' goals against Atlanta
- Peverley is 6-2 in faceoffs
- Pens have blocked four shots

0:00: The first period ends with the score: Crosby 2, Thrashers 2. Atlanta has the edge in shots, 14-11. There are no words left for Crosby. His assault on the league continues.

1:55: Pens kill the penalty. They spend most of the time in the Atlanta zone. Great work by the PK  unit.

3:56: The Pens used the Malkin-Crosby-Kunitz line. But Goligoski gets called for hooking and Atlanta is back on the PP.

4:42: The Thrashers strike on the power play. Dustin Byfuglien's hard slap shot eluded a screened Fleury.

5:13: The Pens killed the first penalty. Enstrom with a blast from the point that is absorbed by Fleury.

5:31: Pittsburgh gets hit with another penalty. They'll have 15 seconds down two men.

6:24: Dupuis with an amazing play to steal the puck from a Thrasher. He carries down the far side and drills a slapper on net. The shot knocked Pavelec to the ice. Adams founds the rebound, but his backhander missed the open cage.

7:16: Malkin gets 2 mins for hooking. PK goes to work.

8:11: Another brilliant save by Fleury with a point-blank stop on Little. The crowd responds with a "Fleury! Fleury!" chant.

9:55: Great hustle by Kunitz as he streaked into the Atlanta zone with the puck, forcing a hooking penalty getting the Pens back on the power play. Now that was a Miller Lite good call.

11:18: The Thrashers have some good sustained pressure, but can't generate a shot. The Pens ice the puck in desperation.

13:29: The teams trade chances. The crowd pitches in with a "Let's Go Pens!" chant.

15:58: Hot-lanta kills the penalty. All even.

17:58: Interference call coming on Modin. Pittsburgh PP goes to work.

19:25: Crosby goes with a spin-o-rama in the near circle, but is denied by Pavelec.

20:00 Ready? GO!

FIRST PERIOD

7:04 PM: Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis starting for the Pens. As Bylsma would say, Kunitz will no doubt be ready to grind these "gentlemen" down.

7:02 PM: Pascal Dupuis missed the morning skate, but will be in the lineup for the Pens. Here are the lines for the night:

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Cooke-Malkin-Talbot
Conner-Letestu-Kennedy
Rupp-Adams-Asham

Orpik-Letang
Martin-Michalek
Goligoski-Lovejoy

Fleury in goal.

7:00 PM: A lot happened earlier today. Too much to get into, so check out the game day blog for details. Spoiler, Pens alumni were in action.

Tonight the Pens battle the Thrashers. Should be a spirited affair. In history holds, someone in a Penguins uniform will score a hat trick tonight. My $$$ is on Crosby. I know, a risky bet. Both Crosby  (Dec. 2) and Evgeni Malkin (Nov. 13) have trick'd against the Thrashers.
