What They\'re Saying About Sidney Crosby
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has been taking the league by storm this season. He's in the midst of a career-best scoring stretch, leading the National Hockey League in both goals (26) and points (50) while riding a 17-game scoring streak.

While his play has led fans to give him the most overall votes for the 2011 NHL All-Star game, Crosby has also attracted the attention of some big names around the league. Here's what they had to say about the red-hot center:

“He’s the real deal and he’s very special. Game in, game out he is the hardest working player on the ice, he’s the most talented player on the ice, he scores big goals when you need to score big goals for your team; he’s a winner – he’s won a Stanley Cup and a gold medal. . . . He’s really something special and our League is in good shape with guys like him sort of leading the pack.” -- Wayne Gretzky (TSN intermission)

"I was lucky enough to play against Gretzky, play against Mario, (Jaromir) Jagr, those guys. But what Sidney's doing right now, it's like an assault on the game. I think he's so driven, like a player that I've never seen before." -- Former Penguin Bill Guerin (AP)

“He's just getting better every year. He really works at every part of his game. You've just watched him develop in all aspects of the game whether it be his faceoff percentage, his shot (or his knack of ) scoring goals in different ways -- he has always been a goalscorer, but he has added a wrist shot coming down the wing, a one-timer on the power play ... he's just continually adding to it. He's a great example for all young players that here we have one of the best players in our game, a young guy just driven to get better in all areas. It's so important because he can play in all situations and score the goal, set up the goal, he can win the faceoff, he'll block a shot. How valuable is that?" -- Lightning GM Steve Yzerman (Canadian Press)

"If it was that easy, everybody would be shutting (Crosby) down. He's a special player. You have to minimize the damage." -- Leafs head coach Ron Wilson (Globe and Mail)

“You have to admire (his point streak). I saw a stat that in his last six games, he had four multiple-goal games. That’s pretty cool. Goals aren’t scored at the same clip as they did in the 1980s, but he’s going like that. Back then, you had guys with 70, 80, 90 goals, but it’s been a while, and he and Stamkos have made it look like they have a shot at 50. I’m impressed with how he’s scoring, too. With some guys, you can say, ‘He’s playing well, but he’s getting breaks.’ I watch the highlights and his goals aren’t ones that went off his hip — and we’ll all take those — but he scores them so many different ways. He scores on tip-ins, one-timers, shots down the wing. You name it, he’s scoring that way.” -- Calgary forward Jarome Iginla (Sun Media)

"Twenty or 25 years ago, (Bryan) Trottier was that kind of two-way player. He was one of my idols. He was killing penalties, winning draws and he was strong as an ox. As a manager, I feel very comfortable when Crosby's on the ice in our zone. He plays 200 feet, every inch of the ice. He can knock somebody off the puck and start the rush." --- Pittsburgh GM Ray Shero (Sun Media)

“You'll probably want to tell your grandkids or have enough video or photos of yourself doing it to show them that you were there (as his linemate). I have little cousins and people back home who you try and get autographs for. People always ask you, 'What is he like? What type of person is he?' You realize there's something special about him. Everybody wants to know a little bit about him." -- Penguins forward Chris Kunitz (Globe and Mail)
