0:00: Perfect ten! The Penguins have won their tenth-consecutive game as they top the Devils, 2-1!
0:59: Adams sacrifices his body and dives in front of a puck to make a phenomenal defensive play!
1:08: Hedberg has left the net. The Devils now have the extra attacker on the ice.
1:42: And New Jersey will take a timeout.
1:46: Zajac tries to deflect a puck past Fleury, who makes the stop. The Devils look like they're preparing to pull Hedberg for the extra attacker.
7:23: A Devils shot meanders its way through traffic and bounces off the back boards to the net, but Fleury makes the save and Crosby is out of the box.
7:31: Adams uses his reach to deflect a Devils pass up-and-out of play.
9:15: The Penguins captain is heading to the box for hooking. The Pens are heading to their fourth PK of the night.
11:16: A nice display of cycling by the Penguins third line allows Kennedy to rip a one-timer at Hedberg, who makes his 29th stop of the night.
12:29: Crosby just hit the crossbar! The post really is a goalie's best friend in this case!
14:31: Clarkson throws a hit on Deryk Engelland away from the puck, which fires up the Pens defenseman. The two go at it, and the replay just showed Engelland landing a beauty of a right hook square on the cheek of Clarkson. Both are getting five for fighting.
15:12: A puck goes off Elias' skate to Fleury, who covers it up. Faceoff coming.
16:15: Great kill by Cooke and Adams up top, as Kennedy heads back to the Pittsburgh bench. We're back to full strength.
17:46: With 20 seconds remaining in Pelley's penalty, Tyler Kennedy is getting sent to the box for hooking. These first few minutes have been littered with penalties.
18:47: BEAUTIFUL opportunity for Letang! The defenseman sees some open ice and takes advantage of it, cutting to the net to try and stuff a shot past Hedberg, who holds on for the whistle.
19:26: Rod Pelley shoots a puck out of play while attempting to clear the Devils zone, and he'll get whistled for delay of game. We're five-on-three for a little bit!
19:38: Letang starts the final 20 minutes off with a hard blast at Hedberg, who makes the stop.
20:00: The Pens are starting the period with 1:09 left on the penalty to Zubrus.
SECOND PERIOD NOTES
- Crosby has extended his scoring streak to 16 games, tying the second-best stretch of his career.
- Crosby logged the second-most minutes on the team with 17:04 of ice time so far tonight.
- Matt Cooke has a team-leading three hits.
0:00: And that'll do it for the second. Pittsburgh will finish the middle frame with a 2-1 lead over New Jersey, and they hold a 27-18 shots-on-goal advantage over the Devils.
0:51: The Pens will finish the period with the man-advantage as Dainius Zubrus gets two for tripping.
1:40: The Pens fourth line of Rupp, Godard and Adams just had a great shift controlling the puck in the Devils zone. They're definitely adding some firepower to the lineup tonight.
4:15: Fleury uses his fast glove to stop Travis Zajac, who seconds earlier had a great scoring chance as he tried to deke the Pens netminder wide to no avail.
7:11: Some fantastic work by the Pens first line to control the puck down low. Goligoski's shot at the net makes its way over to Crosby, who's all alone at the back door. The captain slams it home past White's stick for his 24th goal! Penguins 2, Devils 1
8:13: Langenbrunner's blast is stopped by Fleury.
12:29: We're back to full strength. The Pens already have 23 shots on goal so far tonight.
13:59: Martin sends a pass to Kunitz, whose one-timer is turned away. The subsequent rebound bounces into the crease but is cleared into the corner.
15:04: It's all been sorted out - Rolston and Adams are getting coincidental minors for roughing, with the Devils forward getting an extra two minutes for boarding with his hit on Martin. When you add it all up, it equals Pens on the PP!
15:03: Adams and Rolston are going at it behind the Pens net! After Rolston drives Paul Martin into the boards, Adams sticks up for his teammate and takes on Rolston, knocking his helmet, and what looks like various other pieces of equipment, off.
17:03: Dupuis is getting his second penalty of the night, this one for boarding. Pens on the PK.
17:29: Hedberg just tried clearing a puck that went straight to Tyler Kennedy, but the Devils get it back out of the zone.
19:22: Pascal Dupuis uses his wheels to speed past the Devils defense for a breakaway, but Hedberg makes the save.
20:00: The second is underway here at CONSOL Energy Center!
While we wait for the second period to start, here's some photos of the pre-game ceremony honoring Bill Guerin:
FIRST PERIOD NOTES
- Paul Martin leads the Pens with 9:58 of ice time.
- Sidney Crosby has four shots and won seven faceoffs.
- That goal was Kunitz's eighth of the season.
0:00: That's it for the first! The two teams are tied 1-1 with the Pens holding the advantage in shots, 16-8.
0:30: Fleury stops a Devils blast from the point, which squeaks through his pads and rests in the crease right as the ref blows the whistle. Phew!
1:10: As we head back to full strength, the Pens will get whistled for icing.
1:55: Crosby sends a centering pass to the slot that's cleared out of danger.
3:16: And now Hedberg is getting whistled for interference, as he trips up a crashing Matt Cooke. David Clarkson will serve the penalty, and the Pens are on the PP!
4:19: But Crosby's cross-ice pass to Kunitz is just right! Crosby received a pass in his skates that he kicked up to his stick before sending it across to Kunitz, who rifled a textbook one-timer past Hedberg! Penguins 1, Devils 1
4:42: Asham's shot bounces across the crease, but it's too hot for any Penguin to handle.
Bill Guerin speaking at his media conference earlier this morning.
5:40: The Devils tally with 0:59 seconds remaining on their PP. Jason Arnott ripped a blistering shot from the point that hit Fleury and bounced to the waiting stick of Brian Rolston, who stuffed it home. Devils 1, Penguins 0
6:41: I spoke too soon - Pascal Dupuis just got whistled for hooking. The Pens are back on the PK, and they instantly clear it off the faceoff.
6:45: The Pens had some quality scoring chances with the man-advantage, but can't solve Hedberg as Tallinder is now out of the box. We're back to five-on-five hockey.
9:09: As Arron Asham speeds into the New Jersey zone, he's pulled down by Henrik Tallinder who will get two for interference. Nice work by Asham to keep his feet moving on the play.
9:48: Patrik Elias comes out of the corner and gets a shot from a weird angle at Fleury, who manages to make the save.
9:57: Both teams are now back to full strength as Clarkson is out of the box.
10:47: Nice work by Letang to keep a Crosby rebound in the zone, but the Devils end up clearing on the next play.
11:43: Mark Letestu is seeing time on the power play in Malkin's stead.
12:15: David Clarkson is getting two for holding. Pens on the PP! And as soon as the Pens get a shot on net, White begans mixing it up with Kunitz. They're separated and the show will go on.

14:07: Colin White lays a check on Sidney Crosby in the corner. The 6-foot-4 defenseman definitely has a height advantage on the 5-foot-11 Crosby.
15:37: Asham rips a nice blast that Hedberg's able to get a piece of.
17:45: Conner makes a nice pass from behind the net to Letestu, who one-times it but Johan Hedberg is there for the save.
18:37: A Devils player shoots a puck from the corner that slides across Fleury's crease, but it slides into the corner as no one is there to pick it up.
20:00: And we're off!
7:09 PM: He just high-fived the Pittsburgh players on the bench one last time, and will exit to a roaring crowd. Thank you Bill Guerin!
7:05 PM: The crowd is on its feet for Billy Guerin, who is on the ice with his family!
Here's the video tribute that's being played for No. 13 on the Jumbotron:
7:00 PM: Here are the lines the Pens will be using with the absence of Evgeni Malkin. Ben Lovejoy and Mike Comrie are the other scratches for the Pens.
Chris Kunitz will be wearing an "A" for Pittsburgh tonight in Malkin's stead.
Fleury gets the nod between the pipes.
6:55 PM: Former Penguin Bill Guerin, who won a Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009, announced his retirement here this morning. Here's links to all of the coverage provided by PittsburghPenguins.com for you to peruse while we wait for the puck to drop:

6:50 PM: Welcome to CONSOL Energy Center, which has been treating the Penguins very well recently! Maybe part of the reason is because it was named the Best NHL Arena in the Sports Business Journal survey.
Anyway, Pittsburgh enters tonight's game with a 6-0-1 record in their last seven home games, tied with Atlanta for the league's longest current-active streak.
