6:10: Malkin is possessed right now. He split three Bruins to get off a shot in the slot and drew a penalty. The Pens are on the power play.

7:20: The Bruins take the advantage. A pinch play led to a two-on-one rush for Boston. Thornton whipped a shot into the top corner of the goal. Bruins 5, Penguins 4.

8:56: The Pens have a great chance on a two-on-one. Kennedy opted to keep the puck and shot high, but Thomas was there for the stop.

9:18: Johnson makes a solid glove save to keep the game tied.

14:42: Malkin collided with Thornton in the Pens zone. Malkin hit his head and went down hard to the ice. He lay motionless, but was able to get back to his feet and skate to the bench.

15:56: And just 15 seconds later the Bruins even the score. Chara buried a shot from the high slot that was deflected off of Goligoski's stick and knuckled into the goal. Penguins 4, Bruins 4.

16:11: Nathan Horton places a perfect shot over the shoulder of Johnson and into the top corner of the net to cut into the deficit. Penguins 4, Bruins 3.

20:00: 20 minutes to pay dirt. Let's do this!! Leroy Jenkins.

SECOND PERIOD NOTES
- The Pens are outshooting the Bruins, 34-20
- Malkin and Dupuis each have five shots
- Letang has logged 15:06 minutes of ice time

0:00: The second period comes to an end and the Penguins have scored four goals on Thomas, the most he's given up this season. And there's 20 minutes to play. Pittsburgh holds the 4-2 edge.

0:23: The Penguins cashed in on the power play as Crosby's centering pass went off the stick of Stuart and through Thomas' five-hole. Penguins 4, Bruins 2.

1:29: Letestu does a great job in the offensive zone and draws a penalty on Jordan Caron. It's time for the POWERBALL POWER PLAY!!!

3:33: Asham nails Lucic and sends the Bruin over the boards and into the Penguins bench.

4:16: Bylsma puts Crosby and Malkin on the same line and gets rewarded with a goal. Letang found an errand pass at the far point and blasted a shot on goal. Thomas made the save, but Kunitz found the rebound and beat Thomas for the tally. Penguins 3, Bruins 2.

6:03: Dupuis did a great job of using his speed to get around a Bruin and get a backhand shot on goal. Thomas stood tall to make the save.

7:09: Orpik gets called for interference. Big PK here for the Pens.

8:39: Johnson makes another big save. This time on a hard shot from the point.

10:29: Bergeron just lifted a shot over Johnson's shoulder, but the puck smacked off the crossbar.

12:23: Malkin is back on the ice and had a great chance sprinting down the slot. His wrist shot was blocked aside by Thomas.

13:39: Asham and McQuaid dropped the gloves for a real heavyweight brawl. Both players landed some monster shots, but there was no clear winner.

14:18: Seguin thought he had a goal when his shot went over the goal line, but the referees had blown the whistle for offsides.

15:17: Kris Letang made a great defensive play to make up ground and dive to get his stick to block a Bruin shot.

15:49: Malkin fell to the ice hard and skated gingerly to the bench. He's being looked at by the trainers.

20:00: The second period is underway...

FIRST PERIOD NOTES:
- Kennedy and Malkin lead the team with four shots each
- The Pens had 20 hits in the period
- The Bruins blocked nine shots

0:00: That's the end of the first period. Both teams are tied at 2-2. Pittsburgh had goals from Orpik and Asham, while the Bruins got tallies from Recchi and Marchand. Pittsburgh outshot Boston, 18-14, in the frame in a wide-open affair.

3:02: The Penguins even the score just 34 seconds later when sniper Brooks Orpik buried his first goal of the season. A volatile rebound bounced right to Orpik's stick near the far wall. Orpik sent the puck through a Chris Kunitz screen and into the cage. Penguins 2, Bruins 2.

3:36: Brad Marchand took advantage of a Pittsburgh turnover in the neutral zone. He picked up the puck with speed and snapped a shot past Johnson glove side. Bruins 2, Penguins 1.

5:20: Asham finishes his checking in the offensive zone and is called for tripping, another Boston power play.

5:53: Crosby showed some great hand-eye coordination to pull down a floating back and send a hard backhander toward the net. The rubber sailed just high of the crossbar.

8:58: The Penguins welcomed 12 veterans to Wednesday's morning skate. The "Wounded Warriors" attended the game, and the Penguins thanked them for their service on the jumbotron.

11:29: The Bruins connect on a power-play goal to even the score. 18-year-old rookie Tyler Seguin won a puck battle behind the Pittsburgh net and found Mark Recchi on the backdoor. Johnson made a split save on the first attempt, but Recchi recovered his own rebound and put it into the net. Penguins 1, Bruins 1.

12:38: Johnson makes a pointblank save on a Lucic shot in the slot. Letang took a penalty for hooking on the play and the Pens PK unit will go to work.

12:58: Great chance for Pascal Dupuis. The newest daddy was all alone in the slot and ripped into a one-timer. Unfortunately Thomas was there to mak the save. The play was set up on Crosby's won faceoff.

13:25: Two seconds and one commercial break after our first fight of the night, we get our second. This time Maxime Talbot goes toe-to-toe with Gregory Campbell. Talbot scored the takedown as the fight drew to a close.

13:27: A pretty good battle between Eric Godard and Shawn Thornton. The two tough guys scrapped with neither really having the upperhand. After exchanging several blows, the linesman broke up the spar.

14:02: Great zone time pressure by the Penguins in the early going of this game. This is the type of aggressive, attacking game that Dan Bylsma loves to see from his players.

18:55: Well that didn't take long. Asham scores on a rebound opportunity right on top of the crease to give the Pens an early lead. Two Bruin defenders were too occupied with Evgeni Malkin to notice Asham slip behind them and flip in the loose puck. Penguins 1, Bruins 0.

20:00: Aaaand begin.

7:02 PM: Mike Comrie, who currently suffering from an illness, will not be in the lineup for Pittsburgh. Dan Bylsma will employ the following line combinations:

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Cooke-Malkin-Asham
Rupp-Letestu-Kennedy
Adams-Talbot-Godard

Orpik-Letang
Martin-Michalek
Goligoski-Lovejoy

7:00 PM: The Penguins and Bruins are minutes away from their 7 p.m. showdown, which will pit two of the hottest goaltenders in the NHL against each other. Boston's Tim Thomas is currently undefeated (7-0-0) and leads the league in goals-against average (1.04) and save percentage (.967). Brent Johnson is 6-1-1 and ranks fourth in the NHL in both GAA (1.62) and save percentage (.943). So that being the case, expect a high scoring affair!!!
