0:00:
The New Jersey Devils' six-game winning streak over the Penguins is officially over! Pittsburgh puts in a great 60-minute effort and skates away from Prudential Center with a 3-1 victory to improve to 1-2 on the season. Paul Martin led the way with a goal and an assist against his former team and the Penguins also received goals from Alex Goligoski and Mark Letestu. Brent Johnson wa the star in goal, stopping 30 of 31 shots to pick up the victory.

The Penguins will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:30 p.m. at CONSOL Energy Center.

0:11:
What a homecoming for former Devils defenseman Paul Martin. He just blocked a shot in his own zone, raced after a loose puck in the neutral zone following a Kunitz clear and skated the puck the length of the ice and tossed it into the cage for his first goal of the season. Penguins 3, Devils 1.

0:53:
Brent Johnson just took a crack at shooting the puck the length of the ice into the empty cage. Unfortunately his shot ran out of steam, but it was still exciting to see im try it.

1:21:
Devils head coach John MacLean uses his team's only timeout with a faceoff in the Penguins zone to the right of Johnson.

3:12:
If you have ever wondered how valuable Craig Adams is to the Penguins, it was just proven right there! Travis Zajac just hung Johnson out to dry and was about to put the puck into an empty cage from behind the net when Adams reached in and knocked the puck away. Huge defensive play by Adams!!!!!!!!

4:31:
I've noticed that Pascal Dupuis has returned to the top line with Crosby and Kunitz the past two shifts in favor of Comrie.

6:19:
I can't speak enough to how well Goligoski is playing right now. Brodeur just made an above average glove save on the Penguins blueliner, but the way Goligoski is playing at both ends of the rink is just amazing thus far.

9:24:
This afternoon's attendance: 12, 888. You can hear Penguins fans chanting "Let's Go Pens."

11:40:
Right off the faceoff the Devils cut the Penguins lead in half. Jason Arnott wins the faceoff in the far cirlce to Elias at the top of the circle. Elias blows a slap shot high past Johnson. Penguins 2, Devils 1.

12:35:
Johnson continues to play well between the pipes - snarling an Andy Greene point shot to give the Penguins a faceoff.

Love the Subway advertisement!!!

14:50:
New Jersey just can't stay out of the box as Parise picks up a tripping call in the neutral zone on Maxime Talbot.

17:45:
Not sure how Brodeur kept that puck out of his net. Goligoski sent a drive towards the net after a great setup by Crosby, and Comrie and Kunitz were there whacking away at the rebound. I thought for sure the rubber was ending up in the net there.

20:00:
It looks as if the Penguins are going to have to finish this game with five defenseman as Michalek is not on the bench.

THIRD PERIOD

SECOND PERIOD NOTES:
- Alex Goligoski leads the Penguins in ice time with 17:42 minutes.
- Both Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby have four shots on goal.
- Goligoski and Paul Martin now have three-game scoring streaks to open the season.

0:00:
The boo birds are out in full force at Prudential Center as the Penguins have a controlling 2-0 lead after 40 minutes. Shots on goal are 23-15 in favor of the Penguins. What a game the Penguins have played so far.

3:59:
What a great play by Engelland to reach in with a stick check and knock the puck from the stick of Kovalchuk, who would have had a break into the Penguins zone. Great play!

7:14:
WOW DID BRODEUR JUST GET LUCKY! Maxime Talbot sneaked in behind the defense shorthanded and somehow got a shot to roll over top of a prone Brodeur. The puck rolled right along the goal line until a Devils defenseman could knock it away. Wow oh wow was that close.

7:47:
Former New Jersey Devil Mike Rupp is now in the penalty box after breaking his stick over the pant leg of Andy Greene. Have to love those one-piece sticks and how easy they break.

9:04:
Not enough shooting for the Penguins on that last power play. New Jersey had a relatively easy time killing off that 5-on-3.

11:04:
The Pens are going to have a two-man advanatage because Colin White just tripped Malkin, who had a step on him coming at Brodeur.

11:42:
Andy Greene is whistled for holding for New Jersey. Also, we'll try to monitor Zbynek Michalek, who went gingerly to the bench holding his left hand. Hopefully he is OK.

13:37:
Not the best start to the season by the Devils Brodeur, who began this season 0-1-1 with a 5.31 goals-against average and .812 save percentage. He was actually pulled the other night in the loss to Washington.

To the right is Sam Kasan and I's good friend Brandon Mihm, who we both worked with at the Steelers. Brandon now works for the New York Yankees in their video department. (Brandon, I want to come to Yankee Stadium this year FYI)

17:08:
Brent Johnson makes yet another big save right after the goal. He denied a first chance by Jason Arnott and then recovered to stop the rebound by Matt Taormina.

17:27:
The Penguins increase their lead and pick up a power-play goal! Kris Letang's slap shot from the left point deflected off Mark Letestu on the doorstep and Tallinder and drifted along the ice past Brodeur. It's Letestu's second goal of the season. Penguins 2, Devils 0.

18:00:
Great backcheck by Crosby to get back and negate a shorthanded scoring chance by getting his stick in to deflect a Zach Parise chance away.

19:28:
The Penguins continue to dig away on the forecheck and as a result Elias takes Crosby down on a trip to put the Penguins on the power play for the third time.

20:00:
Don't forget Penguins fans you can listen to every game online through the Penguins HD channel.

SECOND PERIOD

FIRST PERIOD NOTES:
- Tangradi was given an assist on Goligoski's goal, the first point of his NHL career.
- Mark Letestu had a team-high five shots.
- I stand corrected, the Devils are using 15 skaters today. That's just unreal!

0:00:
What a great road first period by the Penguins, who outplay the Devils in their own arena. The result is a 1-0 Penguins lead after 20 minutes. Shots were 15-8 in favor of Pittsburgh.

1:04:
Great forechecking at the Devils blue line by Eric Tangradi allows Alex Goligoski to swoop in, steal the puck from Kovalchuk, walk down the left wing and blast a slap shot off the glove of Brodeur and into the net for his second goal of the season. Penguins 1, Devils 0.

3:17:
Nice job by Johnson to keep his paddle on the ice as Dainius Zubrus tries a power move to the cage. That's the first real action either netminder has gotten here today.

4:51:
Kennedy was a little too aggressive that time as he picked up a holding call.

5:21:
The Penguins are having trouble setting up their PP in the offensive zone here today and as a result they are now 0-for-2 on the man-advantage.

7:21:
Tyler Kennedy's hustle forces Henrik Tallinder to haul him to the ice, putting the Penguins on their second power play.

10:19:
Chris Kunitz is wearing the 'A' today with Orpik out.

11:30:
Great shift right after the penalty by Talbot, Kennedy and Cooke as they use the momentum to hold the puck in the offensive zone and establish a forecheck.

13:47:
Great hustle by Crosby to get the outside on Ilya Kovalchuk forced the Devils star to haul Crosby down to the ice, putting the Penguins on the man-advantage.

14:11:
Penguins defenseman Paul Martin is playing his first game at the Prudential Center since signing a five-year contract with the Penguins during the offseason. Martin spent 400 games and six seasons with the Devils.

16:40:
Johnson makes his first good save of the night with a right-pad stop on a Patrick Elias drive from the near circle.

20:00:
Hopefully the Penguins can pick up that elusive first victory!

FIRST PERIOD

4:08 PM:
Here is the Penguins lineup today:

Kunitz-Crosby-Comrie
Tangradi-Letestu-Malkin
Cooke-Talbot-Asham
Rupp-Adams-Dupuis

Goligoski-Michalek
Martin-Letang
Engelland-Lovejoy

Brent Johnson is in goal.

4:03 PM:
A couple of interesting developments here today as Brooks Oprik is out for the Penguins. He will be replaced by Deryk Engelland, who will pair up with Ben Lovejoy. Alex Goligoski replaces Orpik with Zbynek Michalek.

Thanks to injuries to Brian Rolston and Anton Volchenkov, New Jersey will dress just 16 skaters against the Penguins instead of the normal 18.

4:00 PM:
The Penguins look to pick up their first win of the 2010-11 season this afternoon as they head to the road for the first time this season to take on the win-less New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

The Penguins are coming off of back-to-back 3-2 losses to open up the season (vs. Philadelphia on Thursday; vs. Montreal on Saturday).

New Jersey has opened the season 0-1-1 following a 4-3 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars and a humbling 7-2 loss to the Washington Capitals on Saturday night at Verizon Center.
