Crosby Out Tonight; Day by Day
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will not play against the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center Friday night due to tightening in his hip, according to head coach Dan Bylsma.

"It's just precautionary, hip flexor is a little tight" Bylsma said. "Just taking the opportunity in the preseason to rest it. He's day by day.

"We're not going to play him in tonight's game."

Crosby said his hip was sore Thursday, but he isn't worried about the injury being long term.

"That’s not something that I am concerned about," Crosby said. "I am trying to do everything to make sure it doesn’t happen. Hopefully once we get into the season and get into a routine my body will get used to it."

Crosby skated at the team's morning skate session at Southpointe for 15 minutes before leaving the ice. Forward Dustin Jeffrey will take Crosby's spot in the lineup.

The Penguins travel to Chicago Friday and after the game will fly to Detroit. Pittsburgh plays the Red Wings on Sunday. Though Crosby isn't playing tonight, he will accompany the team and could possibly see action in Detroit.
