Penguins Report: White Head Gear
________________________________________________________________________________

Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury wore a new mask at Monday's practice. The head gear was all white and completely blank of any markings. Check out the pics at 11:32 AM entry.

"It’s something different that I’m trying out right now," Fleury said. "It’ll look better when it’s painted. I’m pretty sure I will (switch to this helmet). I have to make sure it’s ready first. The design of it, it’s comfortable. I don’t want it to be too different (from my old helmet)."

1:23 PM:
Dan Bylsma talked about Mike Rupp's play of late and getting him more playing time:

On Mike Rupp not playing as much:
The power plays, especially in the second half of the game, seemed to be every two minutes. That was a big reason why he got 6:29.
On being happy with Rupp’s play:
I actually liked what he did in the game.
On Rupp’s impact in limited ice time:
He had an impact. He did some good things. At the end of the game, when you look at the stat sheet, I always evaluate how I did (distributing ice time) in terms of what I thought of their play and if they played enough. Power plays deterred him from getting a used a little bit more than he should have.

1:04 PM:
The Penguins coaching staff enjoyed their Sunday off by attending the KISS concert at Mellon Arena.

"I am glad I went," Bylsma said. "I enjoyed it. KISS was not a band I was allowed to like when I was a young teenager and before that. I felt liberated last night."

After Kiss finished their song "Detroit Rock City," the crowd booed for their displeasure of the Red Wings. Bylsma was asked A) if Kiss should have played the song and B) if he liked the fact that Pittsburghers booed.

"We were commenting on the fact of whether they should have played it or not. They should have and yes I did."

12:48 PM:
Head coach Dany Bylsma said that blueliner Kris Letang was not at Monday's practice because of an illness.

"He was not feeling well," Bylsma said. "It's not injury related. He's just ill. He was sick (Sunday) night and this is a stay away from the rink. He should be better."

11:39 AM:
Defenseman Kris Letang is not at the team's practice. We will get an update from head coach Dan Bylsma on his status and condition.
