The Pittsburgh Penguins sweep a home-and-home series from the New York Rangers and have now won all three contests between the two teams in 2009-10. Pittsburgh improves to 19-9 with the victory, the most wins in the National Hockey League. Mike Rupp records his first career hat trick while Sidney Crosby has three more points (2G-1A). Crosby has nine points (6G-3A) in the three games versus the Rangers.

Mike Rupp has his first career hat trick after firing the puck from his own blue line into the empty net at the other end to secure the victory. Crosby gets the assist. Penguins 5, Rangers 2.

Crosby scores for the fifth time in two games when he deflects a point shot from Eaton behind Lundqvist. Skoula gets the second assist. Penguins 4, Rangers 2.

Fleury again gets the "Penguin logo" on a one-timer from Chris Drury.

Girardi hits Rupp from behind, taking a boarding penalty on the play. Rupp limps to the bench.

Kennedy continues to throw shots from all angles. This time Lundqvist gloves his slap shot from the top of the circle.

Fleury makes another above-average save, this time throwing the pad at a turning shot from Anisimov.

Letang broke up a centering pass right onto the tape of Sean Avery. The Rangers' pest fires a backhander off the pad of an alert Fleury.

Pittsburgh is a perferct 2-0 on the season when the game is tied after two periods.

THIRD PERIOD

 
The Rangers went 54 years between championships - a fact Penguins fans loved to let them know about during the 1992 playoffs.

SECOND PERIOD NOTES:
- Sergei Gonchar and Jay McKee each have three blocked shots.
- The Penguins have a 21-16 advantage on faceoffs.
- Gonchar's 17:35 of ice time leads all skaters on both sides.

As Brashear's penalty expires a bouncing puck just hops over the stick of Michal Rozsival cutting through the back door.
