Sidney Crosby pokes the rebound of Malkin's right-point shot behind Vokoun to give the Penguins a 3-2 win in overtime!!! The Penguins improve to 16-8 on the season. Final score: Penguins 3, Panthers 2.

Vokoun comes across with his pads to stop a one-timer from Guerin on a pass from Crosby.

3:35:
Great job by the linesmen to see a high-sticking penalty by Horton on Brooks Orpik earlier in the period and they alert the referees at the next whistle. Pittsburgh will be on the power play the remainder of overtime.

The action is fast and furious. Fedotenko sends Malkin down the right side breaking into the Panthers end but Vokoun snatches the shot with his glove.

4:32:
Crosby delayed bringing the puck over the line and takes a shot that gets through Vokoun but just rolls wide of the net as he barely misses gettting to the rebound.

As noted in the "Stat of the Night," the Penguins are 5-0 after regulation and the Panthers are 5-2.

OVERTIME

Pittsburgh and Florida head to overtime for the second time this season.

Guerin steals the puck behind the net from the Panthers, walks in front, and forces Vokoun to use his glove to keep the game knotted at two.

The Penguins totally dominate the Panthers for an extended stretch in the Florida zone. Their hard work pays off when Malkin's centering pass lands on the stick of Rupp right on top of the goal crease. He beats Vokoun for his fifth goal of the season. Penguins 2, Panthers 2.

Great defensive play by Crosby to knock Horton down at the side of the Penguins net to deny him a great scoring chance.

Florida hits iron for the second time in the period as this time Dominic Moore sends a backhander off the crossbar.

Shots in the third period are 9-2 in favor of Pittsburgh. They are outshooting Florida 32-20 overall.

Horton's shot glances off Fleury and the goal post.

It's only a matter of time before the Penguins tie this game. Vokoun robs Lovejoy on a chance from the slot.

Orpik crushes Kamil Kreps against the boards in the near corner of the Penguins zone. Orpik has been Pittsburgh's best player tonight.

Dupuis came to play in the third period. Only a great save by Vokoun kept him from adding a second goal on a wrist shot from the slot.

15:11:
The Penguins are on the board! Pascal Dupuis is the last Penguin to touch the puck before it went off the shoulder of Vokoun and snuck into the net before Bryan Allen knocked the net off. Panthers 2, Penguins 1.

Florida kills the penalty without much of a threat from the Penguins.

Shawn Matthias interferes with Staal to give the Penguins their third chance with the man-advantage.

Lovejoy creates a rebound opportunity with another low, hard slap shot from the right point.

The power went out at BankAtlantic Center during the end of the second period, which is why FSN and the Panthers' broadcast partner each lost their feed of the game.

The Penguins looks to improve their record to 4-7 when they trail after two periods. Pittsburgh most recently came back from a third-period deficit on Oct. 30 at Columbus:



THIRD PERIOD

SECOND PERIOD NOTES:
- Sidney Crosby leads all players with five shots on goal.
- The Penguins continue to outhit the Panthers, 19-14.
- Florida has dominated on the draws, 23-14.

Fleury comes diving out of his net to pokecheck the puck from the stick of Horton, who got himself a breakaway by stealing the puck from Malkin at the right point.

The Penguins begin an abreviated power play.

The final minute of Florida's power play expires with Bryan McCabe penalized for running over Fleury. Action is four-on-four.

Florida is back on the man-advantage as Lovejoy gets sent off for slashing.

Orpik saves the day again, knocking the puck from the stick of Radek Dvorak as he got behind the defense on a breakaway.

Keith Ballard jumps into the attack for Florida and takes a drop pass from Frolik and he beats Fleury with a wrist shot. Horton gets the secondary assist. Panthers 2, Penguins 0.

FIRST PERIOD NOTES:
- Sidney Crosby and Pascal Dupuis recorded the only takeaways of the period.
- The Penguins outhit the Panthers, 10-8.
- Florida recorded only two shots on three power-play attempts.

Florida leads the Penguins, 1-0, after the first 20 minutes. Each team threw 11 shots on goal. Pittsburgh killed off all three Florida power plays.

Nathan Horton takes a cross-ice pass from Stephen Weiss as three Penguins go to him and his shot beats Fleury over the right pad. Panthers 1, Penguins 0.

3:43:
Bourque returns and the Panthers are 0-for-3 with the man-advantage.

Chris Bourque receives the Penguins third penalty of the opening frame for tripping.

Florida is 0-for-2 on the power play as Crosby comes back onto the ice.

Pittsburgh continues to stymie the Panthers power play, as most of the Florida man-advantage has taken place in the Panthers zone. It's easy to see why Florida has the league's 28th-ranked power play coming in.

Crosby goes back into the penalty box for high-sticking. The Penguins easily killed off the first Florida power play.

Sidney Crosby won the first meeting with Florida in dramatic fashion with two third-period goals and the game-deciding tally in the shootout. Watch highlights from that contest:

Brooks Orpik and Koistinen exchange checks on each other in the far corner of the Penguins zone.

Vokoun uses his stick to make a save on Crosby's breakaway attempt. Crosby blocked a shot at the Penguins blue line to create the chance.

Jordan Staal keeps a puck in along the boards but his shot from the slot just misses the net.

Mike Rupp takes on Allen on the ensuing faceoff and gets the better of their bout.

Evgeni Malkin banks a shot from behind the net off the skate of Florida's Bryan Allen but Vokoun keeps the puck out of the net. The Penguins take exception after to Allen's hit on Malkin.

Fleury stands his ground and stacks the pads to stop Nathan Horton's backhand to forehand move as Crosby's penalty expires.

15:30:
Pittsburgh is dominating the Panthers on this penalty, forcing an icing call and an offside to go with two full-ice dumps.

Crosby draws the first penalty of the night for interferring with Florida netminder Tomas Vokoun.

Fleury was sharp to stay on his post to stop a sneaky shot from Ville Koistinen.

Ben Lovejoy continues to demonstrate an ability to get the puck on net from the point as his shot was deflected just wide off a faceoff.

Florida is debuting their third jerseys tonight. They have light blue similar to the Penguins third sweaters along the shoulders.

The puck is dropped between the Penguins and Panthers.

FIRST PERIOD

STAT OF THE NIGHT:
Both teams have won five games in overtime this season. The Penguins are 5-0 and Florida is 5-2.

7:35 PM:
Head coach Dan Bylsma will start tonight's game with Sidney Crosby at center with Maxime Talbot on the left side and Bill Guerin on right wing. Deryk Engelland and Mark Eaton start on defense. Marc-Andre Fleury is between the pipes.

7:33 PM:
Alex Goligoski is the lone scratch for the Penguins and Gregory Campbell sits for Florida.

7:30 PM:
The Penguins look to continue their recent hot stretch which has seen them win three of their past four games when they take on the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Florida.
