Penguins Report: Ice Forum Practice
5:11 PM:
Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, a little kid at heart, tested out the racing game after practice at the Ice Forum.

5:00 PM:
Here is the update on Sidney Crosby (absent from practice) and Brooks Orpik (left practice) from head coach Dan Bylsma. Crosby was given a day off while Orpik was cut and needed stitches.

"Brooks' cut is fine," Bylsma said. "Sid just had a maintanence day."

Here are some great pictures from Pittsburgh's Friday afternoon practice at the Ice Forum:

Without the luxury of their normal drying system, the Penguins equipment staff used the sun to air out the team's practice jerseys. And even the players got creative, as Marc-Andre Fleury personally stuffed his blocker and glove outside in the sun.

Of course, the team couldn't practice without their usual soccer warm up.

Nate Guenin (left) lets the football rip as rink officials prepare the ice for practice.

Oh yeah, and the team did practice today.

2:05 PM:

Officials from the Penguins staff today visited the home of long-time public address announcer John Barbero to present him with his 2009 Stanley Cup championship ring on behalf of team owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle.

Barbero has not been able to return to the microphone this season while he recovers from a medical condition.

1:54 PM:

Following their contest in Ottawa, the Penguins landed in Atlanta last evening (or early morning) at 2:30 a.m. The team then took a bus to its hotel.

The players boarded the practice bus this morning at 11:30 a.m. and headed to Duluth, Georgia, where the Ice Forum, the practice rink of the Atlanta Thrashers, is located.

The only developments from practice are that Sidney Crosby is not here and that defenseman Brooks Orpik left the ice early during practice. We will get updates on both players after practice.
