Penguins Hold Successful Charity Event
Pittsburgh Penguins management, coaching staff and players hosted a sold-out Skates & Plates Charity Gala presented by Trib Total Media to benefit the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and The Mario Lemieux Foundation on March 30 at The Pennsylvanian.

The event grossed over $240,000.

Penguins’ players donned tuxedos and passed plates instead of pucks as they greeted guests and served as waiters for the evening.  Top tip honors and bragging rights were shared by Penguins’ goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and forward Max Talbot.

Along with dinner, the event featured silent and live auctions.  Prizes were also awarded to guests for the top tips collected by the players.

Commemorative aprons signed by a Penguins player and embroidered with the event logo are part of an online auction available here through April 10.  One apron signed by the entire team is also up for bid.  Proceeds from the auction will also benefit the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and The Mario Lemieux Foundation.

Since 1986, the dinner has been an annual event for the Penguins, raising more than $4.8 million for medical research.
