Crosby Leads All-Star Fan Balloting

Once again, Sidney Crosby is atop the NHL All-Star Fan Balloting.

Crosby, Montreal Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov and Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara lead all Eastern Conference vote-getters in the XM/NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, Presented by 2K Sports. Crosby tops the Eastern Conference with 94,118 votes, followed by Markov with 48,134 votes and Chara with 45,949. More than 2.15 million votes were cast in the first six days of the all-digital voting program.

The voting will determine the starting lineups for the 2008 NHL All-Star Game, which will be played on Sunday, Jan. 27, in Atlanta (6 p.m. on Versus).

Fans can vote for six Eastern Conference All-Stars and six Western Conference All-Stars: three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender for each team. If a player is not listed on the ballot, a space is provided for write-in votes. The three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender from each Conference receiving the most votes will comprise the starting lineups. Each of the 30 NHL Clubs has at least two representatives on the ballot.

Crosby, Ottawa Senators right wing Daniel Alfredsson (41,198) and Philadelphia Flyers center Daniel Briere (32,751) lead all forwards in votes. Markov and Chara are tops among defensemen. The New York Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist leads all Eastern Conference goaltenders with 30,324 votes.
