PINE-RICHLAND KEEPS ROLLING IN PIHL PLAYOFFS

Pine-Richland continues to defend its PIHL championship.

The Rams cruised to a 5-1 win over Hampton on Tuesday in a PIHL Penguins Cup Class AA quarterfinal game.

Phil Trombetta led the way as he scored four goals for the defending state champs. Jordan Shellbey had the other Pine-Richland goal. George Saad had three assists, while Dylan Trombetta added two helpers. Evan Goetz, Geoffrey Bagnato, Reed Loney and Matthew Lohman all had assists in the win.

Andrew Hildreth stopped 14 shots to earn the victory in goal.

Robert Bosilovic had Hampton’s lone goal. Richard Coyle and Alex Mueller added assists.

Thomas Jefferson 4, Montour 2

Brock Heinauer had a goal and an assist to lead Thomas Jefferson to the Class AA victory.

Joe Sabal, Patrick LaFrankie and Dan Jantzi all had single goals, while Lee Stark added two assists. Daniel Nath, Corey Joseph and Daniel Joseph added assists in the victory.

Spenser Neel made 26 saves to earn the win in goal.

Paul Ciotti and Adam Rizza scored goals for Montour. Justin Siegel, Gregory Clarke, Josh York and Kevin Bishop all had assists.

Bishop McCort 5, Serra Catholic 3

Todd Thomas had a goal and two assists to lead Bishop McCourt to the Class A triumph.

Dane Domonokos had two goals, while Chad James added a goal and an assist. Josh Herdman scored a goal. Zachary Seidel, David Champe, Jordan Jaco and Kevin Scott all had assists.

Dan Mock stopped 27 shots to earn the win in goal.

Mike Puskar tallied two goals and an assist for Serra Catholic. Joe Clark had a goal and two assists.

Cory Beam, Josh Werner and Erik Manetta all added assists.

Team officials failed to submit results to the PIHL for the Class AAA quarterfinal games between Upper St. Clair and Mount Lebanon, North Allegheny and Pittsburgh Central Catholic as well as the Class AA quarterfinal game between Franklin Regional and Moon.
