SENECA VALLEY, MARS POST PIHL PENGUINS CUP PLAYOFF WINS

Seneca Valley and Mars posted wins Tuesday night in PIHL Penguins Cup playoff action.

Seneca Valley 8, Fox Chapel 5

Matt Jarrett recorded a hat-trick to lead the Raiders (13-9) to the Class AAA victory.

Seneca Valley held a 5-1 lead over the Foxes (8-13-1), but Fox Chapel rallied for four-straight goals to knot the game at 5-all with 6:04 to play. The Raiders scored the next three goals to earn the win.

Nick Jones had a goal and two assists for Seneca Valley. Mike McChesney added two goals, while Brandon Platt had two assists. Tyler Mesisca and Sam Jarrett both had single goals, while Luke Martin, Ryan Dowd, Andrew Tang and John Raymus all had assists.

Justin Kreps and Jack Stump both had two goals and an assist for Fox Chapel. Greg Lorenz had three assists, while Jared Bayer scored a goal. Zach Crowe and Greg King both had assists.

Nick Comunale stopped 22 shots to earn the win in goal.

Mars 5, Beaver 3

Sam Mashuda and Jake Robash both had two goals to lead Mars to the Class A win.

Derek Sitterly had a goal for the Planets (15-5-1). Cody Kier, Michael Heltman, Andrew Santa, Tyler Whiteford and Ian Finney all had assists.

Landon Stahl scored a goal and added an assist for Beaver (12-9). Christopher Lloyd and Colby Hawkey both had a goal, while Andrew Scott added an assist for the Bobcats.

Greg Lewis made 17 saved to earn the win in goal.
