PENGUINS TRAVEL TO CAROLINA TO TAKE ON HURRICANES FRIDAY NIGHT
The Penguins play their fourth game in six days Friday as they trek to Carolina at 7 p.m. to take on the Hurricanes.

The Penguins (34-20-9) are coming off an emotional win Thursday night. They rallied to upend the New York Rangers, 4-3, in an overtime shootout for two key points in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Pittsburgh is in fifth place in the conference standings with 77 points.
Sidney Crosby holds a nine-point lead in the NHL scoring race with 97 points (26+71) in 60 games. Tampa Bay’s Martin St. Louis is second with 88 points (39+49) in 66 games.
Evgeni Malkin leads all rookies in scoring with 69 points (29+40) in 59 games. Colorado’s Paul Stastny is second with 60 points (22+38) in 65 games. Penguins winger Jordan Staal is sixth in rookie scoring with 33 points (26+7). He leads all NHL players with a 26.8 shooting percentage and six short-handed goals, which ties an NHL record for rookies.
Sergei Gonchar is fourth in scoring among NHL defensemen with 52 points (11+41). He is just three points behind Detroit’s Nicklas Lidstrom, who leads the list with 55 points (10+45).
The Penguins return home to Mellon Arena at 12:30 p.m. to take on the Flyers.
